A/C blowing warm air, not cold air
Fishingbear replied to Fishingbear's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
That sucks! It is clearly a manufacturer's defect and I would think the fix for it would extend beyond the 36k mile warranty. I'd call GM customer service and file a complaint and then see what happens.- 89 replies

http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=3816 The fix has been out for over a year so your dealer should be familiar with it.- 89 replies

Strange Chirping Noise in Cab
Fishingbear replied to Stonewall11's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
It's your flapper valve in the exhaust system and is related to the Active Fuel Management feature. It happens every time your engine switches from V4 to V8. I complained about this in my 2015 SLT 5.3 Sierra months ago and was told that there is no fix and to turn up the radio so that I don't hear it. It's very frustrating and unacceptable. I've had passengers in my truck think that my transmission was on the fritz. I complained again when I had my oil changed three weeks ago and my service adviser put it on the service ticket but my receipt when I picked up my truck said that it was "operating as designed." Waiting for GM to come up with a fix.... this did not happen in my 2007 Sierra with Active Fuel Management. -
A/C blowing warm air, not cold air
Fishingbear replied to Fishingbear's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
You might have a leak, however if you do it will go from blowing cold air to blowing air at the ambient temperature in about 48 hours. There is a design flaw in the way the refrigerant hose is attached to the compressor. So far, the AC in my 2015 Sierra has broken twice. Both times there was a crack in the refrigerant line. When they fixed it the second time there was a service bulletin about it and they had to replace the hose and add a bracket. It's been about 4 months since the last fix and it has been working fine. Your truck is under warranty so you need to take it to the dealer to be fixed.- 89 replies

Squeak when throttle is applied
Fishingbear replied to Jeremy Ecker's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
My 5.3L Sierra does this too. It happens every single time my engine goes from V4 to V8. It's very annoying and makes driving around the city very aggravating. I took it to the dealer and the service manager told me it's the exhaust flapper and to turn up the radio so I wouldn't hear it. He said that GM tried to fix it by replacing the exhaust system when the 2014's first came out but the replacement exhaust systems also had the same squeaking and chirping noise. My 2007 with active fuel management did not make this noise and I put over 150,000 miles on it. -

I asked the same thing about a recall and they said that even though it is a design flaw they only do recalls for safety issues.- 89 replies

A/C blowing warm air, not cold air
Fishingbear replied to Fishingbear's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I got my truck back yesterday afternoon after it spent 7 days at the dealership waiting for a bracket to come in. I've got cold air blowing again and my repair order says "performed PIT5337." Hopefully this is a permanent fix and not a 90 day fix like last time.- 89 replies

The cup holders are not sealed and liquid drains out into the foam fabric underneath my center console onto my seats and floor in the back seat. Great design GM....

A/C blowing warm air, not cold air
Fishingbear replied to Fishingbear's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Thanks for the heads up on the condenser. I just dropped it off at a different dealer during lunch today and they pulled up a TSB on it. The first time it happened I had 4,000 miles and I currently have 7,000 miles. My adviser told me that they had another truck come in Monday with the same problem and that they diagnosed his as a leaky hose. His truck is still there because they are having a hard time locating a replacement hose for it. I expect to hear back from the dealer tomorrow on what the issue is and will provide update when available.- 89 replies

Fishingbear replied to Fishingbear's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Yes, I checked this and just about every other combination of settings and it's still blowing warm air. The temperature coming out of the vents has been at ambient or a few degrees higher all day. I'm dropping it off tomorrow.- 89 replies

What type gas do you use? 87? 89? 92?
Fishingbear replied to goblue4016's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I use 87 exclusively and only fill up at Shell, BP, Chevron, or Mobil. My lifetime average fuel economy is 18.1 mpg for 8,000 miles. My typical highway economy is 21 mpg. I cannot run e85 because my 2015 engine is not compatible. -
I am having problems with my air conditioning again. My A/C is blowing warm air and this is the second time I have had this problem since buying my 2015 Sierra less than 6 months ago. A few months ago I had the exact same problem and my dealership diagnosed it as a leaking hose and all of the freon was gone. They had to order a new hose and it took a week for it to come in. They installed the new hose and added more freon and it has been fine for the past 3 months until today. This morning I noticed that the air coming out was warmer than normal even though I have the A/C set at 65 degrees. It was fine yesterday. I am going to monitor it and see if it gets worse and if so make an appointment to take it to the dealer again. Just wondering if anyone else has had to replace the hose or had a freon issue with their 2014 or 2015 Sierra / Silverado?

Shake or Vibration Issues
Fishingbear replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
GM made the same offer to me and I took it. I had over 14,000 miles on my 2014 and they could not fix the vibration. I had multiple tires, road force balances, new drive shaft replacement, and "tweaks" to my ring gear by a field service engineer (FSE) and none of it fixed the vibration. I had 5 trips to the dealer and a total of 25 days out of service before I filed a defect notice (lemon law) with the state of Florida and GM. GM didn't even attempt the final repair because they already knew they couldn't fix my truck. Since GM didn't want to have a lemon on the title they offered me full MSRP trade value on my 2014 plus additional money to cover the dealer fee, window tint, bed liner, title fees, and license plate fees. Initially they tried to get me to pay $4500 for "usage" based on the miles I had driven. I told them that $4500 was unacceptable based on all the trouble they put me through and that I was refusing their offer and pressing on with the lemon law process. They then waived the usage fee if I would agree to "trade assist" in lieu of the lemon law. I had to pay $300 out of pocket because the 2015 MSRP was $800 more (minus $500 for the tint and bedliner). I also got a new loan with another bank at a lower APR because the interest rates were better than when I purchased my 2014. The entire process took over 90 days after I filed the defect notice so you will need to be patient. Good luck! Two weeks after I got my 2015 I noticed my 2014 on their used lot as "certified pre-owned." -
The dealer had to order the parts and they took about 3 weeks to come in. I continued to drive my truck during this time. I never installed the hose clamps. After the parts came in the dealer had my truck for 4 days of which I do not know how long it took them to perform the seat fix because I got an oil change and tire rotation during this same visit. I suspect they had an issue balancing the tires because they put over 60 miles on my truck during the 4 days. I have had previous vibration problems so I guess they knew they had to get the balancing spot on after the rotation or I'd be back a third time for a vibration complaint. I was provided a loaner while they had my truck. Inspect your seat and the area underneath before you drive off. The service tech who worked on mine had dirty hands and there was grease and dirt on the sides of my seat as well as the back flap underneath the rear pocket. And on the door jam between the front and back drivers side doors. There were also grease globs on the floor carpet underneath my seat.

I had this service performed to my loose seat and it worked! No movement for over 6 weeks now.

Shake or Vibration Issues

My buyback was on the lot a week later as "certified pre-owned." I feel bad for anyone buying a used low mileage silverado or sierra because they have no lemon law recourse. -
Annoying Squeak every time cylinders reactivate from V4 to V8
Fishingbear replied to Z71Texan's topic in Ask A GM Technician
So it sounds like your dealer replaced your exhaust because of the chirp and mine told me it was normal... and we both have 2015's. This is frustrating! I guess I better take it to another dealer for a second opinion. Please let me know if the noise comes back. Mine is so obvious and loud that I hear it EVERY time my engine goes from V4 to V8.- 14 replies

Annoying Squeak every time cylinders reactivate from V4 to V8
Fishingbear replied to Z71Texan's topic in Ask A GM Technician
I just got my truck back from the dealer and was first told that they "could not duplicate the problem". This was after they put 25+ miles on the truck. I then took the service manager for a ride and we both heard it right away. He then proceeded to tell me that it's "a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle" and that there is no fix. He also mentioned that there is a fix for the 2014's with the exact same problem but that GM has not issued a fix for the 2015's. He suggested I turn up the radio so I wouldn't hear it.- 14 replies
