  1. When I was at my new servicing dealer, they did a test with a couple trucks, including one identical to mine, they had a pallet of ice melt, pretty close to max pay load, and they admitted that the weight make no difference, and in a couple trucks made it worse. I already posted info on it for them XD My truck is finally going in to my new servicing dealer tomorrow to get the pico test, which incase anyone missed it, the GM failing spec is 22mg or 22 millionths of 1 G force (think G's like in an airplane) sorry not sure of any better way of explaining it and this (per the service dept. foreman). This "limit" still allows the truck to vibrate some, to which I said is BullSh*t for the amount these trucks cost.... For anyone who doesnt know the Pico they are using measures vertical, and lateral movements in the truck through sensors that then send a signal to a laptop that they bring in the truck with them. They are also going to look at my radio, because that has issues. Not expecting much for the vibration, but hoping I can finally get a working radio at a minimum.
  2. good point Bill, just thought I'd throw that info out though
  3. Actually, there is law that prohibits manufacturers from voiding the warranty for modification unless they can prove that said modification is the direct cause of the problem. here is some info on it, its the Magnuson-Moss Act from 1975
  4. lol, first time I think I actually liked a post you made
  5. good call, thank you
  6. Went to my new servicing dealer today and took the shop foreman for a ride and discussed all of the issues with the truck... Guess What... HE AGREED WITH ME!!!!! He even admitted that they currently have a few other pick-ups there for the exact same problems and that he has personally helped a good number of other people fight to get a buy back. He and I discussed all of the different scenarios make the vibration worse such as going around a curve, up a hill, temperature differences etc. We also discussed different parts and what we believe the root cause to be, he actually said that he believes that the frames on the trucks are not 100% true, and that the truck is fighting the frame while driving, in addition to the stiffer frame and changed material for the mounts causing all of the resonances to be transferred into the vehicle, he actually called the truck a "tuning fork" lol. According to him, I definitely have the T1 Vibe, possibly a T3 and Prop... hopefully I am remembering this right... I was also able to get him to listen to the issues I have with my radio as well, again he agreed that the radio definitely has problems. However he said hes NEVER seen, let alone heard of the problem I have, where it will randomly lose all of the highs in the audio and fade, the only issue he has seen was with the reception and HD Tuning, and my truck doesn't have HD. Anyway, they are going to call me when they get a loaner vehicle back, to so they can schedule it for me, they will be taking my truck in either this Monday, or next Monday, I am also going to bring my 18" wheels with me so they can run the Picoscope on those aswell, even though I have had every intention of switching the tire to something that is better for A/T... yes I am still arguing with them about paying for and not receiving A/T tires... Now the kicker for anyone with a '14... The foreman told me that when GM ordered the rear ends from American Axle, it was a late order, so AA started just cranking them with little quality control, he then went on to say that they never changed the tool kits when manufacturing them... the tolerances turned to sh*t, and the more they produced, the worse they got... So anyone with a '14.... that could be part of your problem, he was telling me about one truck they had , it registered 56 on the Pico, GM somehow determined that 22 was the threshold. they overhauled the original rear end, then ended up replacing the entire assembly. They obviously did not fix that truck and it was one of the buy backs that he helped with. I asked him if he knew how GM came up with the 22 spec for the reading on the Pico, because that is still a felt vibration, and quite honestly for the amount that we pay for these trucks, any vibration like this is bullsh*t. he said he didn't know where GM came up with that spec, but agreed that if he was a consumer and had purchased one, he'd feel the same way.
  7. legally with a buyback its GM doing it voluntarily so they can decide what they want to do. if you wanted out, they could make it take longer and force you to go through lemon law and risk losing outright. they offer the buyback and replacement, and generally thats that.
  8. that is part of the rough idle, there was a TSB for it, but it doesnt help much, basically they just adjust the exhaust pressure. however that is not the only vibration source. I too have video of it, BillC6 has seen it on my truck in person lol, we compared it to his 6.2 that he got rid of.
  9. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2016/03/the-mysterious-chevy-shake-is-affecting-pickup-trucks-now-too.html ' share share share!
  10. Most BuyBacks have to stay with a new GM
  11. I was just about to post this
  12. I don't trust GM as far as I can throw a 2000sq ft house. lol. The fact that they have known about this problem since 2013 when the 2014 MY was released and they still haven't fixed it is utter bullsh*t. In addition, if the #1 concern at the dealers convention was the vibration, that means that there is one h*ll of a lot more than only a few. In other news, I have changed my servicing dealership, I am now taking my Chevy to a GMC dealer. I physically went in and talked to the service department and asked them if they have had anyone coming back with a vibration in the trucks, he nodded his head yes.. I asked if they have had any luck removing or alleviating the vibration, and again he nodded his head yes. I replied, RFB tires, replace tires, replace rims, replace driveshaft, replace rear end, adjust timing and exhaust pressure, lift body off frame slightly? nodded yes again. To keep this from getting any longer, I have an appointment for Friday morning to take the shop foreman for a ride, he will also be looking at trying to fix my radio problem... here we go again
  13. Unfortunately not all of the trucks are donated to a schools or shops. there have been many many cases of people finding their own trucks that they had "bought back" for sale again on the dealers lot. Similarly if one files a lemon law case and opts for a cash settlement instead of having it declared a lemon and repurchased by GM, those trucks do NOT have their title branded as such. any vin check will still show a clear title even though the truck is a mess. Theres ALWAYS a loophole they can slide through.
  14. hmmm squeaky dash or vibrating truck..... no thanks to both haha and I think that tonneau looks familiar ;)
  15. I thought they gave you michelins at some point, didnt they?
  16. lol was that the michelins Bill?
  17. As much as it pains me to say it, I would too.... except I have multiple points of vibration, and that would only move one up to probably in the 60's or so. I have a vibe in the low 20's, especially when slowing down (I think its tranny related because I also seem to get some hard shifts in that range) Another in the mid 40's, mid 50's and mid 70's Also have the radio issue and rough idle (which was fixed, but came back)
  18. don't forget to go up to 80mph... the worst for many people is 76mph
  19. Great info guys, Abominable, you're awesome as usual! So it appears we can now say that the lawyers I spoke to who said it was the mounts on the vehicle were correct. Good to Know. Unfortunately there is no value in the vehicles now my friend Abominable, in your opinion, would getting a truck done in a manner that Rocky Ridge does their's fix the issues? something like this? http://www.rockyridgetrucks.com/#!gmc-alpine/zx5cq
  20. Just a random thought, has anyone done a truck up like the Rocky Ridge custom ones? upgraded rear shocks and struts, upgraded coil over shock fronts, the Rocky Ridge Cross Members etc? http://www.rockyridgetrucks.com/#!gmc-alpine/zx5cq something like this for example EDIT: before I get yelled at to go read back, I am specifically referring to the previously mentioned upgrades, I know numerous people have done lift/ leveling kits, oversized tires etc. but I can't recall if anyone has done the other upgrades and had any resolution... other than the one guy earlier today who upgraded to FOX shocks and says it is fixed.
  21. thats very unfortunate... I have both, so it sounds like it isn't the fix to fix all.
  22. Is there a way to specifically get one with the stamped steel that you are aware of?
  23. Are you hinting that you found the fix? lol Thats very uncalled for, these "Trolls" started with GM, they are not fan boys of the other brands. They suffered and have every right to be here, the real Trolls are the ones who come in never having had GM or the problems. I got your back Bill
  24. I'm sorry, but that statement is just flat wrong. While GM does give huge rebates, which I will agree does lower the trade value in the end, the offers that competitive dealers are offering BECAUSE OF THIS VIBRATION are insanely low. I've even had dealers admit that the Vibration Problem is hurting the value. The premise that that our values would be this low to begin with it utter bull sh*t. You can see my previous posts about the value where I cite what KBB, NADA, Autotrader etc. say they are worth without my accessories vs. what I've been getting offered.
