  1. They sent it to a local company to clean and prep the metal prior to re-spraying it. The first image I posted was the "before" shot, and the other three were the "after."
  2. Does anyone have the OEM 6" running boards on their truck, but Line-X'd? Was hoping to see pictures of how it looks. I've seen it on others but looking for the OEM ones specifically.
  3. Nice. I didn't even know these existed in BC!
  4. Yes sir! Check out my thread - At the end I have posted pictures of the instructions and everything. Very easy http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/198384-driver-assist-handle/
  5. I just put one on my truck a few days ago. I haven't noticed any difference with visibility.
  6. That looks awesome! Can't wait to see someone do this on a Silverado.
  7. This isn't mine, but is at the local mountain in Whistler. Does this could as a wheel setup? haha
  8. Just picked up my truck from my local GM dealership to deal with the flaking undercoat/rust issue. Not only did they clean it and respray the entire underside of the truck, but they also re-sprayed the interior fabric protection as well. There was nothing wrong with this, but they decided to do it. Thought they handled this issue very well. They think the flaking/rusting may have started when someone put the truck on a hoist while the spray had initially just been applied; could have been at the dealership or factory, they don't know. Doesn't matter - They made things right!
  9. I dropped my truck off this morning for them to take care of this. I was glad to hear them mention the truck would be sent to a company to be properly cleaned under neither prior to re-applying whatever coating is under the truck. They could have just taken the lazy way and I wouldn't have a clue... Until the issue re-appeared again.
  10. I crawled under my truck the other day to check something out, and noticed a small patch by my drivers side rear crew cab door that was starting to rust. I contacted my local dealership and they have me scheduled on Monday to bring it in. They said it could be two things: 1) The "known issue" of the flaking of the factory spray on stuff, which they said they will fix or 2) they didn't actually spray on the rust inhibitor under my truck, like I paid for and they said they did. Is there a way to tell the difference between whatever they spray on under the truck as a rust inhibitor versus the factory spray on stuff? Just curious if I can tell at quick glance. I'd be very pissed off if I paid for a service they didn't even perform.
  11. I like on the sides best. Looks sweet!
  12. Depending on where it's wearing out, it may be from getting in and out of the vehicle my turning in place. If you don't have one, maybe look at a drivers side assist handle for the a pillar. I just ordered one yesterday, and although I did not order it for this reason, it can help stop this kind of wear and tear.
  13. That looks sharp! Great job. Dipping the chrome should be easy. You kind of have two options: One is to just spray it all and peel off the red parts after. It should tear pretty cleanly on the lines. The other option is to use green painters tape, but the pin striping stuff, and cover off the red, leaving just the chrome exposed for dipping. That's my 2 cents on the dipping method.
  14. Or since you have them taped already (haha), just plastidip them and peel it off
  15. Yes, it's in the bed of his truck
  16. I like the factory wiper blades. Maybe it's just me... I don't have an issue with them and prefer them.
  17. Well I took my truck into a shop today and can tell you the 285/70/17 spare tire I wanted to mount under the truck does not fit. It would end up hitting my aftermarket exhaust and trailer hitch.
  18. Thanks! I just sent him a message to see
  19. Thanks for the input guys. I will probably keep my 17" wheel but put a larger tire on it (if there's room; still need to check). I'm guessing a 285/70/17 is the closest I'll get to 33" (without going over)?
  20. Thanks for the info. I wasn't going to put the same wheel I have under the truck; I was just going to buy a plain 20" steel rim and the same tire I have on my truck now. I figured with all the crap kicked up under the truck too putting a nice new wheel to match the rest wouldn't be smart, haha. Plus, hopefully I never need it...
  21. Have any of you replaced the factory spare tire under the truck with a larger one? My truck came factory with 18" wheels and I have upgraded to 20" with larger tires as well (33"). I have also had a Borla exhaust installed, so not sure if that changed the space allowance for a larger tire under there. Also, can you mount a regular steel rim under the truck or does it require a special rim in order to be attached under there? Never released the spare so I have no idea. I came out to a nail in my tire this morning and I caught it early enough I could drive to get it repaired, but want to prepare for a worst case scenario if I have blown a tire. Thanks!
  22. Just wear red-tinted glasses. Problem solved!
