  1. I found this out a while ago that to actually turn off your radio, push and HOLD the power button, center button on volume knob. A simple press just mutes it, but a long press turns it off and I have a big clock that appears. also a quick mute of the radio, just push your steering wheel button to hang up a phone call and it mutes, as well as unmutes your radio.
  2. 1) find level ground, i used my driveway and garage door and parked about 20 feet away 2) Aim truck at garage door and turn on lights, works best at night or dusk 3) with painters tape, mark the center of each headlight beam on your garage door 4) open hood and right around each headlight are a white plastic "screw", philips head 5) Turn them in the direction to lower the beam 6) I lowered my beam by about 2inch from the tape mark 7) Youre Done
  3. Looks Great, I ended up having to lower my HID's just a bit. Was getting flashed very regularly. since I have lowered them, I have not once been flashed in over a year now. for reference, im running 55w 5,000k DDM's
  4. Mine keeps breaking too and looks just like yours. Given up on it but now mine makes an awful screeching sound like nails on a chalk board as it falls down.
  5. I too have been seeing lots of posts about the faulty lifters. Can someone give me the low down on the symptoms to look for that might show you have faulty lifters? Just want to get educated as to what I can do to keep an eye out for. I have the obvious "DI clatter" but I also have this nifty feature that I burn about 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles. Truck has about 62,000 miles now, and I do oil changes only with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic DEXOS and Mobil 1 filters every 6,000 miles. I did buy it used at 27,000 miles so no clue what happened before me....
  6. My vibration i feel is definitely coming from the rear of the truck and have yet to do anything about it yet. This time of year is just slammed with all the holiday and year and at work. But My first plan is to replace rear shocks, though i'll do entire truck, but hoping that will fix it. Going to change one thing at a time until it gets better to see what variable solved it.
  7. does anyone have a video of a shaking truck WITHOUT the bench seat in front? just curious as I know i mentioned it before, but seems that all the videos are of bench seats. does the denali magnetic ride suffer from shakes? I drove my dad's 2017 Yukon XL Denali back to back with my SLT Sierra and was blown away by how smooth his was. Then got immediately pissed how bad mine was, ha! I'm about to replace my axles as well as upgrade to 5100 shocks in hopes of elevating the shakes
  8. @tanner709 posted about Mrmotorsports and those are $348, and Rockauto is $371 and those are the cheapest I have found.
  9. @tanner709 This was a crazy helpful post!!! This is what mine looks like at 60,000 miles https://imgur.com/a/Xpx4s
  10. Hey guys, finally time for me to jump on this bandwagon. Where are you all ordering the 5100's from? I went to Summit and Jegs and they claim the 5100's (B8) are non adjustable. People here are mentioning putting the shock on the highest setting though... I do have a RC 2" up front and stock in back if that changes anything? Can you guys help me out with where you are buying and part numbers? Thanks!
  11. well i chimed in before and count me in on my seats not heating again. nearly 2 years to the date. cooled seats broke 4x now heating element 2x in less than 30k miles... FL33i, did you figure out if you were going to take it to the dealer, fix yourself or just let it be broke? Wondering if you do it yourself where you'll get the element from?
  12. has anyone replaced their Torque converter themselves? I am out of warranty and thinking of replacing the TC as well as the axles from Yukon and Bilstien 5100 shocks. If you did replace your TC, what one did you use and did it end up helping? I have lots of other issues with RPM surges that im hoping this could eliminate a few issues
  13. I have had this happen to me twice and each time it was the "heating element" that is under the seat. The dealer claims that getting in and out of the truck causes it to wear down and break.
  14. Good to see some higher mileage trucks out here. 2014 5.3L SLT Z71 61,000 miles and many big issues along the way. 1) shakes 2) Oil Consumption issue, 1.5 - 2 qrts every 3,000 miles 3) AC condenser 4) cracked radiator 5) vented seats quit working (4x) 6) Navi screen quit working 7) flapper in exhaust (3x) 8) Heated seats quit working (2x) 9) rusted frame worst anyone has ever seen 10) squeaking brake pedal 11) RPM surge 12) the list goes on...
  15. Thats what I have too, and it drives me nuts. all the zippers from my gym bag, laptop bag, any tools in the back, sounds like a drunk 2 year old concert. not to mention if i do not have a passenger, the seat belt metal tab constantly rattles against the side pillar. Thought about putting 3m velcro (soft side) there so prohibit any additional rattles.
  16. So its just a thought and I only say this out of curiosity. So with you having a bench seat in the middle, I wonder if that "shows" more effect of the shake then say mine with the captains chairs in front because my cup holders/arm rests are also not on a pivot and cant rattle to the extreme that yours can? I only say this because I have had about 10 loaner trucks from GM, some shake and i see the effects in the arm rest more so on the bench seats than i do on mine, HOWEVER, it feels the same in the chair in both cars but the effects are not shown as extreme on mine. if you youtube "Chevy Shake" it appears that most of the videos are of people with the bench seat, just my observation. Ha, I am no engineer so maybe that has absolutely nothing to do with it.
  17. I found the above link too and have not disabled AFM yet, however I burn 1.5 to 2 qrts every 3,000 or so miles, depends how i drive it. And to bring this back to the topic, I too have the shakes, very noticeable around 76-80mph for me, and with speed limit 70 around me, I'm either the slowest (under 74mph) or fastest guy (above 82mph) out there so we dont get sick in the car by vibrating.
  18. 2014 Sierra Crew Cab 5.5 Bed 5.3L 6-speed 3.42 74+ 60,000 miles Drove about 1,000 miles this weekend and with speed limit at 70MPH I was in the speed spot for the vibrations. Do not feel it in the steering wheel as that is rock solid. But the seats are shaking bad and if you put your head against the head rest, you'll get an instant head ache. Definitely notice it between 74 and 82 mph. Going to be ordering the Yukon Axles and Bilstein 5100's and will report back. Tried new tires, RF balance, rotations, alignments... nothing helps. Appreciate all the information so far in this thread on axles
  19. Live in Madison wisconsin. Bought the car CPO from local dealer who got it back on lease. Had it 3 years now, 30k miles put on 57k miles total. Own a side business detailing cars and planes and definitely take care of my stuff. Shocked to see how fast this got bad. Good point. Definitely wasn't just going to cover it, but feel a frame off is the only way to get all of it since it's so bad. Also it's rusting inside the frame too so no idea how to attempt those areas
  20. Was wondering if mine looks worse than most or on par? Spot treatment of mine is beyond a lost cause as 75% of my frame and all suspension is rusted. When do we have to worry about integrity of the frame if ever? I remember Toyota had issues with them failing.
  21. This happened to me a few times and it was the trailer brake control on the dash. They said it kept shorting out...
  22. Perhaps it has to do with the power source. My Mercedes did this and I did not know why at the time, but have figured it out on that car as well as the Truck. Do you have a cable going from your battery to your ballast? If not, that might be causing the issue. Otherwise the power has to go through your switch in the cab and might not be enough to initially power it up. You might also experience some flickering if you don't have a battery cable to the ballast.
  23. What Jim said is correct, this issue has been happening to my truck but would also happen to my suburban I had as well. For me, it has always been the passenger side, on both trucks. Just would always have to "recycle" the gears and it would work. Also found it would go in spurts, sometimes twice in a week, sometime it wouldn't happen for 6 months...
  24. Going to keep an eye on this thread as I started having the same issue two weeks ago and thought I was going crazy or it was a truck around me, surrounding industrial plant, but this peaked my interest
  25. Hey guys, been out of the country and love all the great info and will read through this tonight. I really appreciate the links! I will follow up with what I find. Will have to investigate a tad more but it MIGHT be a pulsing or surging with V4 mode (AFM) that I didn't think was the case before... but coming back from the airport I watched it super close with the pulsing / surging and seemed to possibly correlate to when AFM kicked in.
