  1. If the Truck don't a fit you must get rid of it! Measure twice ladies before putting your toys together...…...
  2. I have owned all 3 generations of the GM 3.8L over the years....Very fond of that engine! It did have a couple known issues on engine and was mated nicely with a trouble free transmission.
  3. every single engine built with AFM WILL FAIL ummm...OK I am sure you can substantiate that? I mean GM has millions of these engines on market with ON STAR constantly feeding them data....I guess mines next?
  4. Ecotec3's are a cut above the other mfg's v-8's
  5. DEXOS license that are formulated to not do this within the 'book' OCI range. I would say: more apt at not doing this/less likely within the 'book" OCI. It's really a spec that lowers the possibility greatly compared to non DEXOS.
  6. My local mechanic has a hairy eyeball on my truck too!
  7. Dang! I am next I bet I will be 285,561 of the AFM engines that have gone to crap! Wow, Frankenchrist engines I tell ya!
  8. Don't worry I learned as a yout to set my goals low to avoid disappointment! I look under my throttle body frequently and look there it is.....Won't be long and I will be taking a peek at the screen! I mean 124k and you know it's showing her age...rough idle, sputtering and where is the oil going thing? Must be a Frankenchrist engine I have. Good luck with yours! MOOK
  9. Grumps, I know you don't care or would listen to me anyway but my later stage goal in life is to post/update on this forum my K2 with more miles and still operating whether it takes 10yrs or 4 trans in my sled THAN PEPPER! I am gonna see it through! Anyway, I decided to change out my Vacuum pump recently. I am not even sure your 4.3 has one but I assume it does? I couldn't sleep thinking of having anybody else work on my baby other than me so I opted to do it myself. Did the OEM pump need to come off since I bought it? No, it worked fine as far as I was concerned other than being loud I thought. So after examination it's clear to me as to the main problem with this design. The casted body slightly different has little to no bearing. The internals? Not sure... discarded old unit and obviously didn't open up new unit? The culprit is the Micro-screen and it's so fine inevitably even with 2k OCI with Redline/Amsoil or BOB'S SLICK 0W-20 the screen will restrict from engine combustion byproducts, junk etc. and ultimately fail! I am just giving you a heads up for 130.00 I think I paid....Yes, it's far quieter than original and the new pumps safety screen is literally 100x more open and will not restrict or clog unless you go 100k without changing oil. So go outside tomorrow scratch the OL' Nutsack and ponder the wisdom I tried to instill? Choice is yours I don't judge! MOOK
  10. Don't knock the DELCO BRO! 792 gph 13.2 Gpm Wire backing not needed and only adds to iron count/contamination....heck even the gaskets will show up with silicone contamination. You want the cleanest highest flow rate of any filter..Better put a DELCO ON THERE SON! Brand new filters are dirty right out of the box.
  11. Same one I got SON! I just squeezed in 4qts of EZ-Pack in mine couple weeks ago!
  12. Wow...going out on a limb hey? Good for you different can be good!
  13. I agree with that and had a relative throw a code on GM vehicle because of the M1-212A not a truck but a uber finicky GM GDI
  14. Had 85 Chevy Citation "Deuce-Deuce" R12 baby....after your knuckles couldn't move and the dash pieces turned to Peanut Brittle it was time to turn it down from "Meat Locker" to "crisper" on the vertical slide! Yeah, subsequently everything since than has gotten CHITTY, and Chittier! Welcome to Liberal run society's!
  15. This is correct I proclaimed few years ago that the Internal trans temp sensors were causing many people with awful shifting behavior and no it does not always throw a code. That and the 6pin MAFS which obviously is incorrect for air density with low moisture content. What do I know....
  16. I think you will....the 800's were robust indeed! Well maintained K2's are a cut above! Except for the thin Sheetmetal and water based crap paint.
  17. I just replaced vacuum pump on mine couldn't stand the noise anymore so yeah it's the source of one tick!
  18. I get my done at Stealership because, well? No kiddie pool needed and it's way to cheap not to....but yup, I have to remove the coolant too as it's always overfilled. Over the years I have had techs put in straight Dexcool? and tell me it's better than 50/50 etc. Heck, one day I just know they will pull around front with a FERD and say your truck is ready sir? LOL Got keep a SUPER TIGHT EYE on these fools in AMERICA nowadays!
  19. we have had 4 or 5 part numbers now on Vacuum pumps..LOL the latest was 3 weeks ago? Major fiasco so yeah 130.00 bucks you,me and him will eventually be changing that out.
  20. Your pops is probably pretty neat guy and holding up well at his age. Most of my knowledge base is from people of that generation...I reckon there is not much of substance I have learned from the younger folks. they can put an "APP" on my phone but that's about all...............
  21. Yes, you have 2014 it's most likely the starter. You will not have problem after the newer designed one when they changed the motor mounts time frame? I can't remember....my god! They are on p/n 4 or 5 on the vacuum pump...don't worry you will go down that road too!
  22. Tire Snot? No way....probably hate that crap more than black tail lights or any of the BLACK MURDER IT OUT BRO????NONSENSE
  23. The T1's display it now I believe....even though they recorded it on K2's just didn't display it like FERD does...GM knows "most" customers flip through the display and go wow..neat blah, blah and rarely ever go back to look? So why even display it? So they don't....The only one that would matter to a future, current or used buyer of the truck would want the Engine Hours so they display it. Nobody cares except for FERD buyers and their Double Limited Platinum King Horn Ranch Extreme Edition buyer who gets that Buldge feeling in his britches when he sees the "Idle Hour Meter"....ummmm that's why I bought a FERD.....He will never glean or base any ownership decisions about vehicle with the data so it's 99% useless to avearge joe.
  24. I have surmised that from the beginning the junk wiring harnesses on 2015-2016 on 5.3/6.2 8L90 Transmissions along with the super fancy 6 pin MAF sensors that are so sensitive to Dry,Humid air and their corresponding densities and temperatures.....Got a Crap 8L90? Drive it in the rain and report back....Yeah, it's coupled with Hygroscopic oil which amplified the drive-ability issues. GM can't figure out what day the trans drives better astonishing.....but hey? nobody listens to me....................
  25. Do you have the RPO code KNP? As for 9500LBS? ummm….that is 3/4 ton work I wouldn't be towing that more than a few blocks. That is me though and many people don't listen to me so take that however you want.
