  1. Make NFL players wear leather helmets again and watch the head injuries plummet! I miss hood ornaments! Unfortunately, a lot of jerks took to wearing them around their necks in the late 1980s and early '90s which signaled their demise. Probably along with that CC article too!
  2. My old '96 F150 with a 302 would get started up at 6 am and run until about 6 pm during the week and got 12 mpg. That was a 200 horse motor. My old '09 Yukon burns about a gallon an hour idling, if it idles all day I've seen 7-8 mpg with some towing. This motor makes over 300 horses. Yours makes almost 400 horses. You could get the inline 6 diesel or that turbo 2.7 4 cylinder that puts out more torque than my 5.3, not going to burn as much at idle. Anyhow, it's the cost of doing business, you write it off (fuel) and depreciate the truck.
  3. You're going to take your truck to the factory?
  4. Happy Thanksgiving Jim! Yum! Manicotti and Lasagne don't grace our dinner table for Thanksgiving anymore but we still have Mom's Antipasto Salad!
  5. It did not pass or do you think it will not pass inspection? Not even with a Benjamin? I thank the Lord every so often that we don't have that crap down here in Florida anymore.
  6. White smoke is coolant. Seems like it is getting into the combustion chamber. Now the question is where is it coming from? Cracked head? Head gasket leak? Throttle body leak? If Chevy did the work, it ought to be under warranty.
  7. From what I can tell, it looks normal. Can you take a video of each and post them to youtube? If the upstream sensors are cycling in more or less unison near the full range then they are good. If the downstream sensors stay at a steady state more or less, they too are good. One thing I did not say, new cats often throw a code or two within the first 50-100 miles as they are broke in. You can heat them up by driving around in 2nd gear and getting the RPMs up. If they keep setting a code though, the computer don't want them around anymore.
  8. They just came out with one... the Agilis has the 3PMSF rating.
  9. Send a message to GM customer relations or a chat and they will email you a list of all your RPO codes. I do not know how to get a new RPO Sheet to put in your glovebox.
  10. What kind of smoke Brian and have you determined which cylinder it is coming from? Have you put a compression gauge on that or any of the other cylinders? It is SOP to replace the lifter trays and VLOM anytime the lifters are replaced on the AFM system. Did they use OE trays? Aftermarket trays fail almost immediately but that's an aside and not sure your problems begin with that. When the pistons were out of the block, were the cylinders checked for roundness, measured for size and honed?
  11. When ordering my cats, I completely forgot that my truck has California emissions. So it has Magnaflow federal cats and y-pipe. I emailed Walker and Magnaflow and others back then and received no response as to what the differences might be between CARB and Federal cats. No lights after four years and 50K miles. As an aside, I've always wondered why a California car was spec'd and shipped to Pennsylvania and then sold in West Virginia and now I know, thanks!
  12. Well, save for the wiring and ECM, EBCM and BCM, you've covered it all. Get the codes so you can zero in on the problem, the parts cannon didn't. Mine was the Solid State Relay. Did you use all GM OE parts?
  13. GM and GM dealers have been doing this for years. They did some GMT900s, a lot of K2s and even the T1s.
  14. That guy hasn't been around for over nine years. There is a reset procedure done with a Tech-2 or similar bi-directional scan tool. Otherwise the computer will learn again to idle properly, slowly usually.
  15. Bad back, hurt legs, slip and fall, old and infirm can't get in easily. Range between refuelings is less. Tires are 2 to 3 times as expensive as stock. Suspension, steering and drivetrain wears out faster. Additional weight reduces cargo and towing capacity. But my daughter says, "Smiles per gallon!"
  16. There will be internal trouble codes that have to be pulled. Who do you know with a Tech-2 or similar bi-directional scan tool? Have you taken apart the 7-wire plug and checked it for corrosion or even being wired wrong? They get full of dirt/dust after a while.
  17. Can't speak to the Fabtech, but our Zone 6.5 lift with simpler shocks have been on for about nine years now without issue. One of the plastic cv spacers broke and was replaced with an aluminum one. It does go off-road and drives on dirt and washboard roads regularly but not aggressively.
  18. P420 and P430 mean bad cats, not all that other stuff. If those are Chicom cats, they do not last, usually not even a year. But since you put new cats on and fired the parts cannon, the only other thing to replace is the ECM. When you get cat codes, it's most always the cats. It could be the wiring or the ECM, that's it. When my cats and chicom cat failed, I purchased a Magnaflow cats and y-pipe and all has been well going on four years now.
  19. Just did this myself last week. Also comes with free rotations or 1 alignment a year for 3 years. Fantastic tire, always knew they were! Not playing off road as much anymore so these replaced my trusty KO2s. My wife and I can talk without raising our voices and I can hear that noise under the dash that I thought went away 4 years ago! LOL
  20. The dealer is not going to do it but if you have your own MDI2 adapter with GDS software on a laptop you can probably do it yourself. We do it with our old Tech-2s on the previous generations (Tech-2 doesn't work on yours).
  21. The air pressures are set so that they meet the axle capacities. For example if the steer axle's GFAWR rating is 3950 pounds, each front tire will have an air pressure to meet or just exceed 1975 pounds. As to whether you can lower this air pressure when not fully loaded, it's very likely but you'll have to be careful/watchful of improper tire wear from then being under-inflated.
  22. Well, all you really need is a new crossmember if the front one was cut to make room for the control arm drop bracket, maybe some welding. You'll also need new knuckles. Don't need Upper or Lower Control Arms and struts unless they are worn out, which at 133K they probably are or are getting close. It is also possible that your inner and outer tie rods will need replacing as they often get cut down when adding a lift. Did you download the install instructions for that particular lift to see what it entailed? I read it some years ago but memory is fuzzy now. Quote or use the @swathdiver to let folks know you are responding to their post, helps me keep track at least.
