  1. FYI: Your GVWR is 7200 pounds and payload capacity is 1543 pounds so that means your truck's curb weight (including a full tank of fuel) is 5,657 pounds. If you have lifted the truck and added wheels and larger tires your payload capacity will now be less because your curb weight has gone up with all the customizations.
  2. The 8-speed means you have the Enhanced Towing Package and your Tow Rating should be 10,700 pounds and the GCWR should be 16,700 pounds. No, you don't want to max out but that doesn't always mean that you cannot for short runs. Unless it's just you in the cab with nothing else aboard the truck, you could pull 10,700 pounds but the number will likely be a lot less when you load up the truck with passengers and their stuff which takes away from the payload capacity and tongue weight. For example if you want to pull a 10,700 pound trailer, you'll want at LEAST 10% of that on your tongue so that is 1,070 pounds, 12 percent would be more stable, that would be 1,284 pounds which leave you with 259 pounds for the driver and any passengers, the hitch and stuff. Does this make sense? Here's an exmaple with the towing calculator I made for my vehicles:
  3. It's 15,000 or 16,700 depending on options for his.
  4. Have you looked at your owner's manual? Do you have a 6 or 8 speed transmission? Short Bed or Regular? You probably don't want to be pulling your trailer at its maximum weight, that's what GVWR means. At least for long hauls, the tow vehicle will likely be maxed out. What you want to find out is what the curb weight of the trailer is, subtract it's payload capacity from the GVWR to determine this. The number can still be off, the only sure fire way to know is to put in on the scales. Payload capacity seems limited to me, is she heavily optioned?
  5. We always did this with our cars way back when, 70s and 80s vintage cars.
  6. I use Compnine to get the RPO codes. 2008 will have 4-speed transmission. Late 2009s introduced 6-speed and could have integrated trailer brake controller plus bluetooth for phone and such. Any concerns with the suspension or motor?
  7. Just saw one on Precision Transmission's youtube video with 154K and the fluid was brown. The reason these things don't last in your K2s is because of the transmission thermostat. "Flip the Pill" and they will last 2 to 3 times as long like the older 900s. We've seen them go 300-400K miles. Change the fluid every 40K miles or so.
  8. Any updates?
  9. Here's what I use:
  10. https://blog.4wheelonline.com/2021/06/24/the-list-of-most-stolen-cars-in-the-usa/ 8. GMC Pickup (full size) GMC pickup truck offers a combination of luxury and power in their lineup. It has a stylish build and is loaded with cutting-edge technology, truck accessories, and amenities. It’s a reliable truck for heavy-duty work like towing and hauling. No wonder it’s a likely target for car theft with 11,708 cases with the model year 2018 being the most stolen with 1,170 cases. Discontinued generations were also the point of interest because of the limited supply of parts that can be resold for a high price.
  11. Well, you're right and I was wrong. Went back to my shop manual and they use the machine to test the coolers, not to exchange the fluid. Nearly all GM dealerships do not go into the transmission for maintenance anymore, they use the machine to also exchange the fluid. I've done it twice now with no ill effects. My shop did thousands of cars with no ill effects, not a single one. It goes against my nature to do it this way but physical limitations forced me to reconsider; had always dropped the pan on my own vehicles before.
  12. A man has got to know his limitations...
  13. Get hold of your wiring diagram and put a switch in the cab that you can disguise to kill the fuel pump. So if they get past all of your and GMs deterrents, the truck will still be in sight of where you parked it. Does yours come equipped with Shock and Tilt sensors? Onstar? Aftermarket alarms can call your phone and such. A thief interested in chopping your truck up for parts may look elsewhere if he sees that all of your glass has your VIN etched into it. Gorilla Wheel Locks make locking lugs for EVERY lug, not just one in six. A wheel thief may seek out an easier target upon seeing 24 locks and not 4. Got a 2-speed transfer case? Put it into neutral and chock the wheels. Unless they come with a flatbed and winch, they won't immediately know what to do and that buys you time to put your drawers on and grab your shotgun.
  14. Well, it's your car, you obviously place more value on people's opinions rather than what the manufacturer said to do. To each, his own.
  15. You are doing yourself a disservice by waiting until 100K miles to service the transmission. Most folks whether they know it or now fall under the severe service category and ought to change their fluids in half that time or less. For you and the others who are at or over 100K and haven't changed the fluid yet, don't hesitate to change it. These are not 1970s transmissions. They are smart and self-adjusting as they age. Nearly all dealerships follow the shop manual which says to use the Transflow machine to do a fluid exchange which also cleans out the filter and tests the flow through the transmission cooler if installed. I was a store manager at Jiffy Lube when those fluid exchange machines first came out and we never had a transmission fail. At around 190K, we'll drop the pan on mine for the first time and put a new filter/pick up screen in it. It runs the same pressures today as the day we brought it home. The Tech-2 allows us to closely monitor the health of these trucks.
  16. Good candidate for Vehcor repair video series! If the axle moved, that's not really a big deal, new U-Bolts and such is all that might be needed to put it back in place. The front suspension components are made to break away/apart, so a wreck doesn't always damage the frame or mounting brackets. If you love it, fix it.
  17. Stock 6.2 exhaust is 3.5" pipes and offset muffler. Try MBRP, they have a couple of systems for 6.2s as does Corsa and Flowmaster and Gibson.
  18. Boy was I wrong on this post! The L9H NEVER had AFM. The very earliest L92s (engines built by April 2005) had AFM hardware but it was not active in the tune. These motors were in the wagons. You will need an adapter to make the Tahoe's computer read the 58x reluctor wheel on the crankshaft. You can use your 5.3 heads, more torque down low at the expense of top end rpm horses, just what you want for a truck. You will need LQ9 injectors and computer programming from an LQ9 just to get started. There are others here and over at Performance Trucks forum that know way more than I do on this topic.
  19. Now that is awesome Gabe! Shouldn't be too hard to find the linkages out of a pickup and am sure you have a work around for installing them in and around the console. Photos would be great and the Denali guys would love to learn of this swap on this forum and over at the TahoeYukon forum. Very cool. Can you post up some photos when done?
  20. Whatever you do you'll have to have all the programming the same as the donor type vehicle. Do you want a 2-speed transfer case? The 2010s came with the electronic single speed MP3010 and the 2-speed case is the MP3023. The latter was paired with the 6.2 engines in the 2010-2013 GMC Sierras, the 2009 LTZ Tahoe and the 2010 GMC Yukon XL SLT.
  21. I'm missing something somewhere. Our 2006 Pontiac was the first vehicle to take Dexron VI and the fluid then was full synthetic. Every container of ACDelco Dexron VI that I've bought for the GMC has been full synthetic, it said so on the box and the MSDS for each part number.
  22. Dexron VI is full synthetic. What issues?
  23. Well, it happened to me and that was the fix. To each his own.
  24. Mine did this with plain Mobil One oil and doesn't do anymore since I started using ACDelco's oil, same weight, both full synthetic.
