  1. Hey Guys, I have a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV with a 5.3L LMG and a 6L80 Trans (MYC) looking to drop in a 6.2L L9H. As far as I understand it is a direct swap. Would I run in to any issues or codes as far as the L9H not having AFM/DOD? I plan on using the 5.3L PCM and having it re flashed to work with the 6.2 Or do I look for a L94 that has FlexFuel, VVT, AFM like the LMG does?
  2. I have a 2010 Silverado 1500. The instrument cluster is completely non-functional except for the check engine light. The gauges do not work, nothing displays on the LCD, and no other lights illuminate. The check engine light will come on when the key is turned on, but as soon as the engine starts it too disappears. Everything else seems to work - radio, A/C, etc. I checked the fuses that I figured could be related. disconnected and reconnected the battery. I banged on the dash in case of a loose connection, and even tried swapping out the cluster panel with another panel, and got the exact same behavior. Would anyone be willing to share any advice or guesses? Should I change the ignition switch? Look for a bad ground (not sure where to start with that).
  3. The recirculation vent on my 2010 GMC Terrain opens on its own after the car is shut off letting in extreme humidity in the car. What position is the recirculation vent supposed to be when the car is off? I live in Florida where the humidity is 100% most of the year. The car feels damp when you open it and I have had damp rid hanging to avoid mold. If the vent is supposed to be open when the Car is off what is all of sudden causing all the humidity? It started this a few weeks ago.
  4. Can I haul 2 full Ridgid job boxes in my 2010 Chevy 1500 WT? It's reg cab 4x4 with 5.3l V8. Also wanting to know what issues I could run into by overloading the bed
  5. I have a 2010 Silverado 5.3 LT 4x4 and my engine stalls when accelerating or revving, it doesn't get past 2000RPMs and starts making a deep almost rumble noise. I unplugged my MAF it almost kills my engine so I didn't believe it was that. I just replaced my TPS. After somebody recommending I test my fuel pressure, I did so and the results were as follows: Fuel pressure at 60psi with power on (not started), about 57 idling, and once you press in the accelerator, almost immediately shakes between 40-43 and doesn't move from there until the engine stalls out. Is this my fuel pump or something else entirely? Thanks for the assistance.
  6. I just bought a 2010 Silverado LTZ 4x4 last Thursday and a few days ago it started leaking oil, and now I noticed it smokes from the engine bay on startup. It's not a lot of smoke, but it smokes on startup and smells like something is burning and then a few seconds later it'll stop. I opened up my engine bay and it looks like it is coming from the passenger side exhaust manifold, maybe a worn exhaust gasket? I'm not sure. It is white smoke, and there is a little bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust as well. It's hardly noticeable from the exhaust, but when looking in the engine bay you can clearly see it. If anyone has any ideas what this could be please help me out.
  7. so I went in order of torque spec by doing 22 ft lbs on exhaust and intake valves of coarse on 2,4,6,and 8. I would torque intake rocker arms when I had exhaust valve just starting to open and exhaust valves when intake valves were just starting to close. this was done with the engine under the hood, wiring all in tact, ect, ect... Now... after doing this torque spec than firing the truck and ran rough as hell until I back off the bolts, than everything sound fine after that. I than proceeded to snug the bolts back up gently before putting the valve cover back up. No tick no nothing. test drove it about half a mile. loud as hell tick and misfire coming from cylinder two. where is the middle ground here because 22 ft lbs seems to be too much and getting it snugged up enough to where it sounds normal at idle doesn't seem to cut it either. Please I need help.
  8. Got a 2010 1500 Sierra with a 5.3 L in it. A while back I had a pretty serious oil leak. I took the truck in and had it fixed. While they had it apart they replaced the oil pan gasket also. Now on cold startup I have terrible sounding rattle for 3-5 seconds until the oil gets to the top of the motor and after the motor is warm I have a tick every so often. This motor made zero noise before the work. In case it's helpful. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic 5W30 and the oil pressures are at 40 at cold start and 25 when warm. Any thoughts?
  9. New here. I have a 2010 Black Silverado Ext Cab 5.3 2WD. It has 23,600 miles on it. It has a Linex bedliner and a new style step bumper. Other than that it is completely stock. However I am just starting to make some changes... I just modified the exhaust (youtube video if interested). I am about to get new 22" tires (Nexen Roadian HP) and wheels (Texas Edition) and sell the stock 20s. I added a 2" leveling kit. And finally, I am about to install a new double din, components in the front, 2-ways in the back and a kicker subwoofer under the rear passenger seat...

  11. My 2010 Sierra Crew Cab has the automatic climate controls and a problem that may be more common than I think. The temperature on the driver side doesn't warm up no matter the temp setting while the passenger side seems to work just fine. I tried switching between Auto and Manual modes, doesn't help. I hear a click down by my feet which I assume is the blend door actuator for my side. What is involved in changing the blend door actuator? How do I know that's the problem and not the controller? Why do the fail? Do the plastic gears break or the little motor burn up? Any suggestions or diagrams of the heater box would be very helpful. Thanks.
  12. I had my tires filled with oil change the other day. They said they were put at 35 psi which is what the gm recommends. Now the truck is telling me all tires are low. I checked them and they are all at 35 psi. Is there some sort of reset I have to do? They were not rotated. It is a 2010 silverado. Temp outside is 40 degrees F.
  13. Takata is a global airbag manufacturer who supplies parts to many automakers, including Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nissan, and General Motors. 7.8-million vehicles have been recalled so far for airbags that partially disintegrate, sending shrapnel flying when triggered. For comparison, General Motor produced over 6.5-million of the last generation pickups and SUVs from 2006 until 2013. It is unknown if the redesigned 2014+ models share similar versions of the potentially faulty airbag. GM-Trucks.com has contacted General Motors for clarification. General Motors said plans include forcing Takata to share the design of the airbag with its direct competitors to allow more production capacity. Stay with GM-Trucks.com for updates. As drivers of a 2011 GMC Sierra, we will be following this news closely. Source: Yahoo Finance
  14. By Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 12/20/2014 The answer is looking like "yes". General Motors is actively preparing "contingency plans" in case the automaker has to issue another round of recalls related to the Takata Airbag scandal. According to Reuters and Yahoo, a spokesman for the company acknowledged yesterday that the GMT-900 based Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade would be among the next vehicles recalled if the issue widened. Update: General Motor's representative Alan Adler tells us "There are no known air bag issues with the GMT900 full-size trucks. There is no recall planned. GM uses multiple air bag suppliers, sometimes more than one on a vehicle. All air bags are tested as components, in systems and finally on vehicles before production begins." Update 2: 12/23/14 - GM would not clarify any additional statement and would not explain why the Reuters/Yahoo article mentioned the GMT-900 trucks if there was no concern. Source: Yahoo Finance
