Tyler's 2019 Silverado Build

Welcome to my build! Started with a 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ 4wd 5.3L, which I bought with 9k miles on her in August of 2020. Got a crazy good deal on it, justified me driving to Georgia from Houston to pick it up. It even came with the Ranch Hand front bumper on it already, other than that she was stock. Little bit of background on my past trucks, I've been fortunate to own quite a few: 07 JK Wrangler, 08 Silverado 1500 LT Z71, 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Z71, 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT w/ 6.2L, 2016 Denali 2500 Duramax, 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71, and finally my 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. I also have my 2015 ZL1 Camaro for a little bit of fun on the side, my wife has gone off to German side and is rocking her Porsche Cayenne. So here's the current list of mods: 4" Zone Lift kit w/ Fox rear shocks 35x11.50's Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock 20's Front and back Ranch Hand bumpers Hooker Blackheart Cat-back exhaust utilizing factory dual tips K&N Series 63 cold air intake Rough Country Automatic drop down steps Camlocker Tool box Front windows tinted to match back factory tint Front windshield tint strip Chevy All-Weather floor liners Stubby antenna Just went on a shopping spree of sorts and this is what I've got on order: Boost auto parts auto fog mod Putco Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar w/ Putco wiring harness All LED bulbs; replacing turn signals, license plate lights, and reverse lights. And the GRAND finale, King 2.5 PRS coilovers The list of things to come in the near future: High Country cluster from White Audio and Media, had their Tahoe cluster in my 2017 and it was fantastic! Waiting to order the rear King Resi PRS shocks until my checkbook bounces back a little bit. Lol Going to be putting on several LED light bars and maybe a pod or two, going to do my best to blend them into the Ranch Hands and make them as non conspicuous as possible. I'm strongly considering doing a Dyno tune w/ Kooks long tubes as well. Going to be doing ceramic tint all the way around. Limo on back windows and back glass, 15% on front windows, and 35% on the front windshield. I've got a drop in plastic bed liner that drives me crazy, so I'll more than likely go ahead and get the bed sprayed. Things I'm considering: Looking into changing up the rims and trying to clear 37's when the time comes for new tires. Blacking out the badges? Still not sold on this one... Turbo or a supercharger kit? This one would be way down the line though. Anything else that catches my attention, let me know if you can come up with anything! Here is the truck from stock:

Here ya go, I'll attach another pic of the rear in a minute. It has the adventure series Fox shocks and the heavy duty control arms. Honestly the truck rides better than stock IMO. I like the ridge grapplers but I've had the Terra's on my last 4 trucks and have had great luck with them. Lol. It's funny you say that because I thought the same thing, added the RC auto steps a couple months ago. -

silverado Lift Kit Question
TyGriff13 replied to Justin_R's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I had the 3.5" RC and 35's on my 14 Sierra and never had a problem with it, rode a little rougher than a stock truck would but it was a lifted truck with 35's so I expected it. Right now I have got a 2.5" level and 33's on my 18 Silverado and I am kicking myself for not going ahead and just doing the lift and 35's again. To me it has the same ride quality and looks a whole lot better with 35's. I drive a whole lot for work, mostly highways but the truck for sure spent some time on dirt roads and going in and out of the duck and deer blinds and the RC performed adequately for me...I plan on going that route or the Fabtech 4" budget kit and 35's whenever I need tires. -

I didn't have any issues at all! But again. don't rely on me completely, don't really want that liability. LOL

Personally I will never finance with a dealership again, had a terribly bad experience with a Jeep dealership and I stick to my credit union. They have always had the best rates and they offer me "discounts" if I maintain a certain balance in my savings account with them, or if I have a direct deposit every month, etc. they actually give me a certain percentage off. I refinanced my 2014 with a new credit union when I relocated to Texas around 6 months ago and they brought my payment down by $20 a month and actually knocked several months off of my overall loan term. To say I was happy with the results is an understatement. Now I will say my father just took advantage of the HUGE discounts they were/are giving on the 2018 SLT's and he financed with his credit union and the only "incentive" they couldn't offer him was the GM Down Payment Assistance since you had to finance through GM to get that one. Sticker price around $56,000 and incentives had it down to $38,950, he traded in his 15 GMC, for a great price, paid $40,950 including TTL. Financed around $28k and lowered his monthly payments. They even put a leveling kit on and switched over his 33's, back seat storage box, and bed cover. Pretty good deal in my book!

Hey Jimmy! Not to say you're wrong or anything but I do run a 4" Rough Country w/ 35's and I get no rubbing at all. I admitted to cutting the wheel well for my Ranch Hand but even before I did that I had minimal rubbing at full turn and not a single inch, or millimeter for that fact of steel has been cut on my truck. I did all the work myself so I can assure you of that. Hope I helped! Have a great weekend! -

I am running a 4" Rough Country and I run 35x12.50x20 w/ no rubbing at all. My wheel wells have been trimmed heavily but it was not to cut down on rubbing but to match the line of my Ranch Hand front bumper. -

The manager didn't really know what he was talking about then, on the 14+ Sierra/Silverados Ranch Hand made them a lot lighter without losing the tensile strength of the steel. I will say there have been reports of accidents causing damage to the frame that have been linked to a heavy front end impact that someone tried to blame on Ranch Hand for a quick payout, but the Ranch Hands were not in fact responsible for the damage to the frame...the heavy front end impact was. Who would've thunk it? -

Wanted to post my new pictures of my 14 Sierra, mostly because I could not find a picture of a Sierra w/ a Ranch Hand on it to save my life before I put my front and back bumpers on. It is a 14 Sierra SLT Z71 4x4 Green Forest Metallic w/ a 4 in Rough Country lift with 35x12.5x20 Nitto Terra Grapplers with a measly 57k miles on her. Hope y'all enjoy! -
Wow. I am sorry about me taking my time to get back to you, I usually get an email with an alert but regardless I was able to drive it to the dealer. However, the service manager seemed a bit surprised the truck even started. So it may be a case to case basis? Who knows with all the damn technology in these trucks anymore.

If you have all the tools and have an inkling of what you are doing it's not too difficult. The only problems I incurred was the fact that the computer has to be flashed after it is installed and possibly a couple settings might have to be changed and secondly the truck will need an alignment afterwards which is not something that's exactly in my wheelhouse. Other than that it was rather easy and straight forward! I wish you nothing but the best, mine seems to be holding up pretty well and I am trading it in today for new Denali Duramax! So it'll no longer be my problem...hopefully!

Having the same issue on my 2014 Sierra as we speak, had to take it to four different shops to get an honest opinion out of anyone, there is a GM Recall currently out for the steering rack in 2014 GMC's and Chevy's alike. Unfortunately, it is only to flash the EPS module and say that they fixed everything and in reality it did nothing (GM Recall Number: N172085440). After taking my truck to two custom offroad shops, a Chevy, and a GMC dealer the only people saying it is because of the lift is the GMC dealer and one of the offroad shops (Who also told me it was my 4" Rough Country and quoted me a low $3,400 for a new 6" Fabtech LOL). So now the last place I took it to was the second offroad shop and they told me it was very easy to replace and told me exactly how to do it, so it sounds like I've got my Saturday project, oh joy. GM Part No: 84235647 is the new steering rack for the 2014's at least. I recommend calling your local dealer and asking them for a part number though, just to be safe. They also did quote me $1,859.24 for the part alone, I told em to kiss my big fat white...you get the point. I will try to get some pictures of the process and the broken rack, wish me luck!

Custom Tuner/getting a custom tune
TyGriff13 replied to spenpet's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I can't speak directly to tuning the newer Ecotec engines, however I will say that in my 2008 Silverado with the 5.3 Vortec I had a Bully Dog tune on it and it was fun, it certainly unleashed a little more torque and made it more fun to drive. With that being said I currently own a 2014 Camaro 2SS with the 6.2L LS3, modified pretty heavily, headers, exhaust, throttle body, cam, etc. and on this wonderful GM vehicle that was untouched until around 5k miles ago I very recently had tuned to make the most out of the mods. It was worth every dollar of the $1200 I spent to have it professionally tuned on the Dyno and with people who knew what they were doing, some would call them professionals. I will soon be throwing a tune on my 5.3 Ecotec for sure, my last GMC had the 6.2 and had more than enough power so I didn't even bother with it. Let me know what you go with and what you think about it, all in all though I say TUNE AWAY! Happy driving! -

2014 GMC Sierra w/ 4in Rough Country lift and 35x12.50R20 Terra Grapplers G2. Very limited trimming in the front wheel wells and no rubbing at all now. The few and far between Green metallic, love this color! Had a 2015 Black Sierra with the 6.2, 2in level, and 33 mud grapps but some goober offered me more than what I had paid for it so it was gone and I got a helluva deal on this one owner with only 30k miles!! -
