  1. Well... I think passenger side pulls, drivers side vents and the pcv valve pukes. So I could see it helping with idle. I wonder if you could just run a hose from the pcv valve to catch can and vent it, eliminating the return line.
  2. Remove the negative battery cable for 15 min
  3. Did you buy the truck new? Go to the dealership and ask them to see if GM can give you a discount on the price for being a loyal customer.
  4. There's a lot of damage there. I think anytime a wheel take's a direct hit they have to replace A LOT of connecting parts even if they don't show any signs of damage. I'd say it's a write off. My 2010 silverado took a hit to the front wheel. Welcome to the sloowww motion club.
  5. It's fine. Intake's that are open like that only become an issue if you start crashing puddles or driving in water. You could get a pre-filter, makes it water resistant.
  6. They were the wires MSD specd for the LT1/l86 etc. It was a high horsepower build. I imagine the difference on a stock engine would be minimal. When I have time I'll try and find the video on YouTube again. *Edit* The focus of the video wasn't about how the msd's lost power so I can't search for it and pull it up. Way too many videos to go through. If someone has an interest in hunting it down, the video was done by complete street performance.
  7. Huh, very weird that they match perfectly in your picture.
  8. The oe wires are best, same goes for plugs. CSP swapped in msd wires on a C7 build and they lost 40 something horsepower compared to acdelco. The msd's had no damage and were functioning properly. Apparently its not all about resistance. Stay away from Granatelli. Any company that sells a ported maf sensor should be avoided like covid-19!
  9. What are those vents on the back of your seats?
  10. Is that your truck, buy it used? If so the paint isn't the problem. The previous owner used plasti-dip on them, along with the side emblem.
  11. That's weird, the finish on my wheels is incredible. I wish my truck was painted as well as the wheels..
  12. If I had to guess it would be the leaf springs that your hearing. Just noise or does it feel loose?
  13. Yeah, I think the 2500 and 3500 are basically the same truck. That's why the price tag isn't that different. Slightly higher cost for the 3500 because of the extra steel.
  14. If I was an American and you were running for president, You'd have my vote
  15. Because of the smaller bore, the block and heads are not the same. I don't think gm would use the same amount of material needed to support 6.2l on an engine that only has 5.3l of displacement. There might be some cost reduction in manufacturing but.... I think using less aluminum would still net them more savings.
  16. Is this a new truck for you? I mean, 360hp is not going to move 7000lbs fast.
  17. Ah, ok. Yeah I haven't seen it that bad. Just enough that you can maybe see it for a foot from the exhaust tip.
  18. ^^^THIS^^^ You can make power on an na engine (high compression) with meth. All about timing. 50% meth boosts octane rating, 50% water reduces intake temps/reduce's knock and steam cleans the cylinders and cleans the valves. I wanted meth for low rpm high load situations but couldn't find a kit that operated on maf. I think it was only map or throttle input..
  19. Well, I did a quick google search and burning oil usually results in blue tinged smoke, fuel is black, white or grey smoke is just steam, OR worst case scenario burning coolant from a blown/leaking head gasket. *edit* How much smoke are you guys talking? Mine does smoke at start up/wot sometimes, but nothing I'd consider ab-normal. I was thinking it was a MASSIVE cloud, which is not normal. At tip in you will likely see black smoke but you shouldn't be seeing it continue as you accelerate. How long the truck has been running does impact this. Hotter engine = less black smoke
  20. That's Crazy.. What brand was it? I've been looking at tapping the y-pipe for a wide ban. I'll stay far away from that one!
  21. I didn't read every reply so this may have been said already. I don't know whats causing your black smoke or oil usage, but an engine running rich will produce black smoke. It's un-burnt fuel, think rolling coal. As far as the pcv system goes you won't have any blow by enter the air intake, the valve cover's prevent this and do a good job. The only location you will see blow by enter is from the valley-intake manifold connection, which is also where the pcv valve is located. The intake manifold is rounded like a bowl on the bottom and oil does pool there. You can see it if you remove/open up your tb. But that being said I don't think that's your problem. They all collect oil there, mine included and I haven't seen black smoke since it was brand new starting in -30.
  22. So your expensive shocks failed and you bought the same one's again? Did you know those shocks are fully serviceable? I think they actually recommend a full service on a yearly basis.
  23. No body makes them like they used to.
  24. What's yours rated for with the 6spd? Or are they all 6spd! I'm so confused now!! Gm should have stated the transmission beside each and every gear. What a mess.
  25. Your owners manual is correct. But I'm fairly certain the max tow in the 5.3 only had 3.42 gears with the 8spd. And I'm struggling to understand how a 5.3 with 3.42 gears (Not max tow) is rated for the same weight as the 6.2. Looks like the 5.3 should use the exact same cooling system as the 6.2. Or even if it doesn't, it's irrelevant because it's rated for 9000+ pounds. So yeah, if your keeping the truck you'll just need gears. I would go with 3.73's if your going to all the trouble and money to do it. I'd look into this more before going ahead with it though. Try and find build sheets for vehicles online and compare the differences (codes) between yours and ones with the 3.42 (Not max tow) *edit* Do you have the 6spd or 8spd? If you have the 8spd, you probably just need gears. If you have the 6speed your better off putting the money into a new truck.
