  1. If you have a Z71, that's your answer right there. Can't have mag ride, period, with the Z71 package. I don't believe you could get it at all on the '14 Chevy either.
  2. Part numbers are different but the bed lengths show the same on UnderCover's website. I personally wouldn't buy it because it is the Flex, which requires you to lift the back cover before closing the tailgate to not damage the rear seal. The Ultra and Armor Flex are the way to go.
  3. $230 shipped on Amazon for that kit seems pretty reasonable to do that upgrade if not equipped.
  4. So you can afford a brand new truck but not a $30 switch...
  5. Why would you do a toggle switch instead of swapping in a OEM switch with the fog light button? The OEM switch is cheap. A toggle switch is ghetto.
  6. I was referencing you. Monterey doesn't sell a ski boat. Plenty of runabout's and are now trying to get into the wakesurfing scene with their forward drive boats, but those boats are a joke in terms of making a surf wave while charging what the real wakeboats cost. Fortunately, wake surf boards tend to not go much about $1500, so I'm good there.
  7. I get a truck 100 years ago is very different than a truck today. Same as an airplane, car, home, etc. I live 3 minutes from a waterway where it is all water sports and fishing; 22' limit, jet ski's and tubes are banned...the fishing guys stay in the no wake and everyone else is doing water sports. I've never, ever seen an old jet boat, Chris Craft, etc. For ski boats, it's Malibu and Mastercraft inboards with a Ski Natique 2001 thrown in. Then you get a couple of I/O's thrown in usually knee boarding, a pair of skis or doing some weird and inappropriate things with a surf board. Even the Yamaha Jet Boat guys don't come out much. In the last 30 years, direct drive inboard is a ski boat. Period. Hell, I don't even ski a direct drive - my boat is one of the best Vdrive boats to ski behind (SV23 diamond hull Malibu), and to be honest I only slalom a couple times a year behind it - the rest is surfing with a bit of wakeboarding thrown in (and perhaps wake foiling this year if my wife wants to go even bigger on this year's Father's Day present, as last year was a $1000 surf board). I'm also pretty sure the OP was referencing a freaking I/O runabout as a ski boat. I/O's are for Wally's, not folks that are into water sports. Now a proper footing boat with an outboard, like a Malibu Flightcraft, that's a whole other animal, but even lighter than an inboard ski boat.
  8. Thank you for not being the a-hole slowing the freeway down. If the rig can't tow at the speed limit, probably shouldn't be towing on that road IMO (excluding up hill, bad weather, etc.). No such thing as a "very large ski boat." Too many people call run about's as ski boats (pet peeve of mine). If it isn't a direct drive inboard, it isn't a ski boat. Just like putting a tower on a run about doesn't make it a wake boat. As for your TT experience, did you have the WD hitch set up correctly. It seems that more people don't have it set correctly than do. Same with the tongue weight on the trailer. This makes a huge difference in the towing experience. And obviously the towing experience with differ based on how the truck is optioned - a Max Tow 6.2L will tow a lot better than a base 5.3 on the same body truck, for instance.
  9. That's not a fair statement at all. How the 1500 is equipped (regardless of brand) and what you are towing from an aerodynamic perspective makes a big difference. I haven't towed with my '18 yet since I just got it, but I've towed our boat through the Tennessee mountains on the freeway multiple times with my last two trucks (first was a 1st Gen Avalanche with the LM7 5.3L, 4L60E transmission and 3.73's). With the Avalanche, my first go around the boat was at its lightest at a little under 5000lbs, but I had a crew of 5 plus the bed and boat packed full. I estimate my boat + gear weight was right around 7000lbs or a bit more. Returned around 8-9MPG and could do 75. This is a wake boat with a tower, wake racks, 4 tower speakers...not some little runabout that's much more sleek to tow. My 2nd truck was an Escalade EXT (2nd Generation, 6.2L L92, 6L80E). Boat, due to additional lead ballast, grew to about 5200 before gear. I only did two trips towing there with that rig, but both were in the high 6000lb range with people/gear/boat. Again, zero issue doing 75. Motor didn't have to rev as much as the LM7 did in the Avalanche...but it still returned the exact same mileage. In both cases the tow is rock steady. Only uneasy moments is narrow construction paths, which would be the same regardless of tow rig. My expectation is my Sierra, having more HP and less weight, should tow even better and I'm betting will drink a little less fuel. I realize my examples aren't a travel trailer - which I have no interest in owning - but I'm hauling weight exceeding your recommendation without issue and don't have the advantage of a WDH with a boat that has surge brakes.
  10. Agreed. I tow my boat 1-2 times a week. I would hate to need to fill/empty the bags manually each time I towed...or worse yet, each time I go down the boat ramp. Smart Air 2 setup is $350 but you don't even need a controller. Just does everything for you and basically replicates what GM used to offer with the auto-leveling suspension (which I really miss having).
  11. I can see why everyone is pissed. I came from an 2nd Generation Escalade EXT and a first generation Avalanche North Face Edition, so I'm very familiar with the weather tight bed cover setup on those trucks. Seeing this package, I'd assume GM just replicated the EXT/Avalanche setup...obviously not. My Under Cover Ultra Flex doesn't leak nearly like being described here. I actually have no leaks from the cover itself; mostly by the rear tailgate corners where there isn't a whole lot that can be done to prevent it. I can easily keep cargo in the bed without worry of it being wet.
  12. Why not just do an on-board air setup so you don't have to even mess with that BS?
  13. Not the first time you said it: Yawn; I gave one simple example. I've had a hell of a lot more dash apart than that on other vehicles without issue. Not everyone is afraid of a wrench and the common assumption on a vehicle message forum is that many members don't have the fear - and it is fear - that you have.
  14. I just looked at the document. I'm guessing you are the type that's afraid to change your own oil. It doesn't look hard at all; I literally had to remove more screws changing the oil in my wife's last Audi than doing that swap. You really shouldn't be dissuading others from doing what looks like a pretty basic swap.
  15. Yeah, don't watch commercials. I haven't seen it at all. DVR = easy to avoid.
  16. I would sure like to hear this explanation as well.
  17. You are over paying. My SLT is about as loaded as you can get (CC, 4WD, Sunroof, Premium Plus, Z71, 6.2L, paint option, floor liners) and I paid $44,055 out the door before tax, brand spanking new. Had I waited until now, I could have got a Denali Ultimate for about $3500 more - I just didn't know they were going to give such good Denali deals in December when I bought mine.
  18. I am mentioning things that aren't available at all but should be, since it is well established tech that has been available for a decade. You are mentioning items that are available but you chose not to purchase a truck optioned with those items.
  19. Just one of many things these trucks don't have that they should. Things like blind spot monitor, push-button start, auto-leveling rear suspension (older GM stuff had it), radar cruise and HUD.
  20. I will be doing this mod once out of warranty. I don't believe the pump is covered under powertrain, so I'll do it in 3 years. And I will flip the f' out if they try denying a powertrain warranty claim with that swap.
  21. Mine was purchased in Illinois. But class action lawsuits are typically only good for the lawyers, so I expect to see no money. Fortunately, mine hasn't had much of an issue though I only have 1300 miles on the truck.
  22. @1SLOW1500 agreed. I intend to level by removing the block and doing 2" drop shackles. Mine's a Z71 truck but I find trucks look silly with front lifts to level without larger tires, which I'm not looking to do. Front lifts also have the potential for problems and warranty concerns - less likely with dropping the rear.
  23. Wife ended up getting me a Ronin unit for Christmas. Haven't installed it yet but looked fine in the package.
  24. Any aftermarket recommendation? I'd much prefer a multi-use U-bolt.
  25. Dump the iPhone and get an Android. I have had iPhones forany years (and my work phone is still an iPhone). Apple used to "just work" but over the last several years the reliability has decreased at the same rate as their innovation.
