2026 Silverado 1500 color choices
Jim E replied to Amherst RST's topic in 2027+ Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Anyone have the production numbers by color? This was a common argument for the Camaro while it was in production. Those that wanted blue were very vocal, but it was one of least chosen colors. -
2021 lifter failure - post mortem
Jim E replied to Nomad24's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
Occurred at 20k on my 6.2. I'm at about 22k now and it's been fine. If anything, it's running better and I previously had a lifter tick, that is gone as well. One of the other topics has more details, but this doesn't appear to be a lifter design issue, but an issue with one of the sources or batches of the lifters. Id expect this to be a much bigger problem if it was actually a design issue. -
I just had this occur Monday morning. Silverado that just broke 20k miles. Tech found a broken lifter and two bent pushrods. They replaced the entire bank of lifters, guides, gaskets, etc.. Not my normal dealer as I was on my way home from out of state, and while I caught them off guard on a Monday morning and they had no open service slots available, they got it right into the shop and had the work completed by cob on Tuesday. If they had taken longer, it would have saved me a day or two on the car rental. Otherwise, very happy with the service. I will add, that ever since I picked the truck up new, it has had what I would call a lifter tic, usually at idle. I assumed at first it was because the truck didn't have premium, but it has always been present, regardless of the fuel used. That "tic" is no longer present. At least not that I've noticed yet.

2020 GMC 1500 Sierra AT4 Headlight Upgrade
Jim E replied to Dane B's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I would suspect, that like the Chevrolet, they are LED bulbs. My goto is Diode Dynamics, but they don't list any upgrade options for headlights or fog lights. Unlike my Chevrolet, where the fog lights can be replaced. Sorry that I couldn't help. Good luck. -

Assist Steps - GM Sports Steps vs. 4-Inch Round
Jim E replied to Tedk's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Last I heard, both the Chevrolet and GMC Sport Steps were no longer available due to supplier issues. At least they were at the beginning of the year. I originally ordered the 4-inch round steps with my truck and it put my order on constraint because they couldn't get those either. But I know they are still getting those as I still see the Rally Editions shipping with those. -
Just wanted to update and confirm that there is not power in the standard mirror cable. The cable I linked above, plugs into the fuse box on the passenger side and easily tucks into the headliner. It was a minute job, start to finish, and some of that was time going in and out of the garage for tools.

2020 Non lifted RST wheel offset and tire size
Jim E replied to puppykat33's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
You probably already have an answer, I don't know the details, but any decent Tire/wheel shop, or even website like tirerack.com can provide what you need without you needing to figure it out. -
From Build Date...How Long Delivery ?
Jim E replied to GMC-AT's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Most likely, something in your order is on constraint (ie: not available). My order was accepted December 23rd . When my salesman checked the status on Feb. 1st, it was found that it was being held because it included running boards which were on constraint. He resubmitted the order the same day and I picked it up on March 1st. I'd say that if you don't get your order in the normal 6-8 weeks, then there is a reason and none of the "normal" scenarios or time frames will apply. Your salesman should be able to find out why it hasn't been built. -
Last time that I saw this mentioned, I believe it was determined that you would need to order them unpainted, and then have them painted or simply take it to a body shop and have them removed/painted/reinstalled.
-
Seems to vary based on options, and lately there is the "chip" issue. As to delivery time, my order was placed December 23rd, was accepted and placed on constraint. On February 2nd, my order was resubmitted minus running boards (constraint item), was immediately accepted and I picked it up March 1st. But that was before the chip issue.

You can generally get a better price by taking what's on the lot. Having said that, for what these cost, order and get exactly what you want. You can still take advantage of things like Supplier pricing and incentives. The difference being that you won't know what incentives (assuming they continue) will be available at the time that you take delivery of the truck.

Jim E replied to IdahoElevation's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
They're not bad looking, but I'm perfectly happy with the black rubber knobs in the RST. -

Rev Hard Tonneau Leaks
Jim E replied to ForkliftJeff's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I have the BakFlip MX4. We've had a lot of rain, some severe, in the last month and mine hardly leaks. I'd definetly buy it again. Based on the pictures, the front seals on yours are jacked up. They also appear different than mine, but it's likely been revised since this topic was started. -
PARK ASSIST WIRE EXTENSION to the BULL BAR
Jim E replied to swisher1's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it isn't that simple. The system would likely need to be reprogrammed (ie: calibrated) to know that the sensors were moved. Likely something that you would never get a dealership to perform. -
Likely pulled because they don't know when they will get more in stock. There is a plastic shortage for numerous types of plastic. Even the aftermarket SB unit has been "backordered - shipping soon" for months now.
-
If it it's an allocation issue, take your order somewhere else. GM can't build these fast enough, and all orders with an allocation will get built first. They may not get to non allocation orders this model year the way things are going.

Wife’s new Acadia Denali. An observation on a few things.
Jim E replied to DarkSky20's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
My wifes been looking at these too, although it will likely be a couple of years. I'm sure most will since the new Terrains are smaller. And if your SO's are anything like my wife, she wants another V6. She's not the least bit interested in a 4 cyl. -
The dealer should be able to tell you why. A month after ordering mine I checked in with my salesman and was told it was on hold. Further investigation showed the running boards were on constraint. They resubmitted the order minus the running boards and it instantly was picked up and I had the truck 4 weeks later. In other words GM knows why and the dealer can find out. At least decent, educated dealers can find out.

The biggest things that I wanted in an AT4 that you can't get in lower models: ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and the HUD. And if you get a fully loaded lower model, the price difference between that and an AT4 is much less than $5100. A similarly equipped TB and AT4: TB $59,600 vs AT4 $62,500

To be fair, the dealers don't always know where the truck is in the process based on the basic information provided to them by GM. They can often get specific information, or at least some of them can, which I can only assume is the by product of having contacts in GM. When I was waiting on my Camaro, I was told it was in "Transit". But evidently that code or term encompasses the entire time from where it sits on lot at the factory waiting to be shipped, to delivery at the dealer. "Transit" in my case, meant it was sitting on the lot waiting to be loaded onto the train, which they couldn't do because it was too cold (the 1LE or track package, ships with Summer only tires, which can freeze and will crack/split if moved).

Best Audio Upgrade Set for Non Bose?
Jim E replied to 2024Denali's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I'm sure others have more experience, but from what I've read, you will want speakers and amp. The factory radio doesn't have enough power. -
As you stated, there are numerous threads about this, and specifically about the Bose system. All that you need are speakers, if that's all that you want. Crutchfield . com
