  1. Seems like this is the question that rarely gets answered. I recommend everybody buy a cheap scanner at their auto parts store, and keep it in the truck. This way, when a CEL turns on you can find out what it is and be able to tell the dealer when you take it in, even if the light has since turned off. The other option is to immediately call OnStar and ask them to run a diagnostic and email you the info so you can provide proof to the dealer. I've utilized both options in other cars.
  2. My dog is better at catching rats and mice than my wife's cats. Get a good dog. Unlike cats, they don't climb into engine compartments for warmth.
  3. In the T1s it's a green lighting bolt inside the yellow circle and next to the phone icon. The battery percentage is off to the right on the bottom row (near the middle when in split screen). The red icon, iirc, is climate control. The green lightning bolt can turn yellow when there's an issue with wireless charging, such as the pad getting hot. I haven't had that issue since getting the hvac tube that goes to the wireless charger installed. What a PITA that was.
  4. You know what they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If it's fixed the dealer won't be able to replicate it, so point in taking it to them. I will say that rarely I'll have an issue with the radio. Today it wouldn't connect to my phone. The next time I got into my truck the phone did connect.
  5. The grass is always geener in the other side. I have the version with the lockable lid in my crew cab and wish I got the version without the lid. With the lid you need to fold up both sides of the seat since the lid is one piece. If you have a passenger, instead of asking them to move over, you have to ask them to get out of the truck. Imo, be happy you don't have a lid. Btw, Du-Ha's website has the storage bins listed cheaper than e-trailer.
  6. The battery percentage has nothing to do with the charging. It also shows on trucks without the wireless charger. It's whatever the battery level is on your phone. It's based on your phone's connection to the truck via Bluetooth.
  7. I have a short bed. A few months ago my neighbor needed help transporting a quad from Anaheim to San Diego. His truck was in the shop (ended up being a lemon). I offered to help. Bed was the perfect length. I considered not tying it down because the tires were up against the tailgate and the front bulkhead, but so anyways just in case. No issues whatsoever
  8. I'm only guessing because I want the prize for being the closest, lol. 285/75/18
  9. You'll be fine. Do a Google search for Magnuson Moss Warranty Act if you have any questions. It's federal law. Here a link to help get you started: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/chapter-50
  10. I answered your question. The seats are different. The mirrors are different. I've looked into this, and so have other people. If you don't like my answer then you can use the search function. Just thought I'd save you the time.
  11. This truck is the first vehicle I've ever had that doesn't have WeatherTech floor liners in it. The GM ones for the Silverado are that good. My wife's Traverse has the WeatherTech ones for all 3 rows because GM's floor mat department fell asleep on that vehicle.
  12. More food for thought. Factory navigation seems to be going the way of the dinosaurs and Android Auto and Apple Carplay are taking over. Those apps also don't give altitude.
  13. I think the majority of people this type of information would be marketed to would fall into "don't care" category. In a single trip I can drive from below sea level (Death Valley) to over 10,000 feet (Rocky Mtn National Park in Colorado), and I'll have highway signage tell me the elevation.
  14. Sheet metal is too thin nowadays. MILs sitting on the hood would yield the same result as if you clips the back legs of a cow and had its rear sit on the hood. Those are 2 large butt cheek imprints. Don't ask me how I know.
  15. Then it's an insurance issue, and should've been from the start. Your picture of GM advertising clearly isn't an 18 inch deep puddle. Speaking of advertising, that's what TRAIL BOSS is. It's an advertising term to insinuate ruggedness. However, advertising is allowed to "puff". Everybody does it. TRX and RAPTOR don't mean Ram and Ford make trucks as archaic as dinosaurs. TUNDRA doesn't mean the truck is only for the snow. TITAN doesn't mean the truck is the parents of Greek mythological gods. Puffing in advertising isn't exclusive to trucks. For example, MARRIAGE doesn't guarantee sex. You assume too much, like how we care. Save the drama for your next girl's night out.
  16. Fact: You concluded your initial post by staying you don't want people criticizing you for acting stupid. You called this "normal driving", but the truth is it isn't. There's a reason roads are closed when several inches of water accumulate on them. 6 inches is enough to flood a car. 35 mph is fast enough to hydroplane a vehicle. This is why the mantra is, "Slow down. Go around." In case you missed it, here's a link to remind you. https://www.weather.gov/tsa/hydro_tadd Reality: It's not you who should be disappointed in the truck. It's the truck that should be disappointed in the owner/driver. If only they were animated and had feelings and the ability to communicate. Solution: Step1) Rebuild the engine. Inspect parts for damage, such as piston rods, bearings, etc. Air compresses. Water doesn't. Something bent or broke. Step 2) Make better driving decisions going forward. FYI, before you criticize me for my reply, realize that I've been there and done this myself. I was in a car, and the wake of a passing lifted truck rose the water enough to be sucked up into the intake. I was going slower than you, but I made the decision to go through the water anyways. I was ultimately responsible for that decision. I never blamed the manufacturer for building a crappy product, because they didn't. When this happened I was living in a coastal town that flooded every time it rains during high tide. And, it liked to rain a lot during high tide. I've seen flood waters that drowned semi trucks.
  17. If you use a metal can it might fibrin as a faraday cage. Best to use a plastic ammo can. And, .30 cal might be more appropriate.
  18. There are some places where the transponder has a switch, such as single occupancy vehicles in HOV land turn the transponder on/carpooling in the HOV land you turn it off. This won't work for those transponders.
  19. Usually, when somebody asks how high they are it's in reference to smoking weed. Are you guys smoking weed?
  20. That looks real good. I like it!
  21. Anything is possible with the right amount of money
  22. It's defined not a roll bar. That's why I specifically referred to it as a "sport bar". It's all looks. It's very light in weight and won't sport the weight of the truck.
