There are some electrical plugs up by the spare tire that allow for the Putco blade tailgate led lightbar to work. I have that accessory and did the install. It was plug and play. The lightbar does illuminate white when put in reverse. Perhaps you could create a harness to work between both ends of the plugs.

I'll post up what I find out when I get to doing this project. I've had a lot going on with family, and it affected my health. I'm getting over it now, but probably won't be able to tackle the project until this weekend. Wife thinks I may have contracted COVID based on my symptoms. She's an advanced practice nurse, and may actually know what she's talking about, lol. It's been a fun debate of her demanding I get tested, and me telling her to pound sand. I've done what I would do with any illness -- isolated myself, slept a lot via frequent dosing of nyquil, and remained hydrated.

I'm not too far away from Death Valley, and drive through the desert occasionally. I'll let you know how it works out.

The parts guy I use exclusively at the dealership by my house got it for me. He knows not to cancel my orders.

Congrats on the kid. I have 3 myself. My wife is short, so running boards are a must. I recommend you get and install the protective rear seat cover now. You'll thank me later. Kids make messes that are guaranteed to ruin your seat. I have the one on GM Accessories installed in my truck. It works well with the child seats. I have 1 that doesn't need a seat, one that's in a booster, and one in a forward facing harness seat utilizing LATCH. I also recommend getting an under seat storage bin that has a lid. No kids means all their toys and food spills will under with your tools, etc. Du Ha makes a great one, imo. The utility of the Silverado has greatly exceeded my previous vehicles, including a sedan and a 3 row SUV. My wife has a Traverse, but the family vehicle is the truck because of how much better it carries our gear, especially for sports tournaments. My wife and I debate getting a Suburban, but we're very happy with the truck.

Is it? Iirc, the block has the engine displacement size as part of the casting. The 6.2 litre blocks have a 6.2 sticking out on them.

I just had a similar issue tonight, but I have the L87. Driving southbound on I-15 from Vegas, headed to San Diego. While dropping down into Baker, CA, cruise control was set at 78 mph. Time was approximately 10:30pm. Outside temp was 95°. AC was off because sunroof and rear window were open. Engine temp was normal, oil pressure was normal, and trans temp was 147°. Just me in the truck, and no payload nor trailer. Southbound I-15 dropping into Baker, CA is a steep decline. Iirc, 6% for several miles. The mountain pass parks at over 4,000 feet, and Baker is below 1,000 feet. Due to no reportable issues with the truck I continued to drive, but immediately closed the windows, turned on the AC, and pressed the OnStar button. OnStar ran a check for codes and didn't find a single one. One thing to note: this is the 2nd time I've had an issue with the truck on this exact same stretch of highway, and both times it was 90°+ outside. Cruise is always set at 8 mph over the posted limit, and it only happens while going downhill. I've made this same trip several times over the last year, but outside temperatures were much milder, and nothing happened during those trips. Imo, no point in taking the truck to the dealer since they won't find any codes to help them. So I guess that just leaves me to being curious what everybody thinks. If it's happening to both the L84 and L87, then it's probably associated to something common for both engines.

800 miles today. Not a single problem. Loved the mpg from the 6.2, also. Mpg peaked at 23.3 shortly after taking this pic. I didn't get a pic of it though. As you can see, fuel level was low and I ended up getting off the freeway to fill up at that point.

To as to what I said earlier, just completed an 800 mile one-day trip. Temps range from mid 70s to over 100, and experienced a heavy rainstorm with flash flood warnings lighting up the cell phone. Not a single problem with the Retrax.

Ordered all the parts needed to add wireless phone charging to my truck a few weeks ago. The Monday after I spoke to my parts guy GM announced they would no longer be including wireless phone charging in new vehicles. I thought I was going to have a long wait, but was surprised to get a phone call today from my parts guy, who told me the parts had all come in. I will be doing the install next week.

Larger displacement means more weight of metal parts

I have the Retrax One. It's my first retractable bed cover ever, and I'm satisfied with it. I did consider all the options you're considering, and more, but couldn't justify spending $700 more for a powered Retrax. I have the sportbar on my truck from GM. The way the Roll and Lock installs made it an instant NOPE. It needs the round hole in the side of the bed for install, and the sport bar uses that, too. The only plastic on the Retrax is the black grommets/clips for the water drainage tubes. Everything else is nylon or polycarbonate. I also like that the Retrax can lock in the open position at any place, and not just some randomly designated places by the manufacturer. If you go to Retrax's website you'll see they sell replacement parts should something fail after the warranty expires. The unit looks to be completely serviceable. I haven't experienced any water intrusion, except when I took my truck to one of those DIY carwashes and always it with high pressure water. However, Retrax also sells a weatherstripping for the tailgate that helped minimize this. Iirc, 10 get was $28. As for concerns about warping, rest easy. I'm in Southern California and travel through the eastern half of the state to Arizona and Nevada regularly. Also had a few 2-day baseball tournaments this summer where my truck has sat under the sun in 95°+ sun. My truck is dark blue. No issues from the bed cover at all. I'm completely satisfied with the Retrax. FYI, GM Accessories lists a retractable bed cover under the name Advantage. They are made by Retrax and altar to be exactly the same. If you have some points or find a good discount with GM Accessories, that's a good way to get the Retrax.

Possibly forgot to reconnect the positive cable that goes to the starter. Check between the battery and the firewall under the windshield to see if the cable is there and disconnected. I've made this mistake before.

It can take several months for the lemon law prices to work itself out. I'm in California. My neighbor started the lemon law process in March. Currently the truck is in his possession, but GM is making the payments.

Not a safety issue, therefore won't be recalled. This has been a problem for 15 years and GM has never issued a recall for it. Why? You are still able to safely control your vehicle to the side of the road and wait for a tow truck.

Everything changed in model year 2007. 2006 was the last good year, imo. With that said, I have 16,000 miles on my 2020 and have had zero issues.

My neighbor ordered his truck back in February. Freshest still hasn't received it. He ended up settling on a lesser trim, which ended up being a lemon. Still waiting on GM to reclaim the truck. In the meantime they've taken over the payments. It has just been sitting in front of his house while the dealership and GM get things worked out. My neighbor has since purchased a F150.

As I said, 100 lbs difference. I only knew this because I compared the towing numbers of Trail Boss LTs with the 5.3 w/ 10-speed and 6.2 w/ 10-speed.

If you provided a GM part number it would've been helpful. I went to GM Parts Direct to see if I could you. GM Parts Survey gave me GM part number 84793824. I then went to www.rockauto.com and did a part number search. It came back with an AC Delco party number, which appears to be in stock. If you click on the Info button next to the part number it'll tell you that both ends are splined. You might get more replies to your thread if you had put it in the correct subforum. Must people in the 1/2 ton trucks subforum may not be able to help due to not being familiar with the trans in your truck. Not trying to be a Richard, nor start anything. Just saying, the trans in your truck is different from what's put in our trucks.

Difference is about 100 lbs. Going off vehicle tow ratings. 5.3 w/ 10-speed is rated for 100 lbs more towing than a 6.2 w/ 10-speed. Otherwise, engine architecture is pretty much the same.

I'm out of suggestions then. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
