100% agreed. Travel trailer are like big sails when the wind hits them. Unless it's a small toy hauler, a travel trailer this heavy is likely more than 30 feet. My travel trailer is 28 feet and max loaded is 7500 lbs. 30+ feet on a light half ton could make for a bad day. I think I'm pushing it with my 28 footer, and I have a CDL.

Iirc, Buick was the first to get auto start/stop maybe a decade ago. Not hearing about any of these problems you're talking about. I'd appreciate it if you provided evidence that I'm wrong.

I've been driving for 25 years, and I've never had some sort of cop detector. Do I speed? Yes. I've even managed to successfully run from the cops once (Geos were never fast, but they were far more nimble than Crown Vics, lol). Statute of limitations is long expired, so it's safe to post that last part. Last time I was pulled over was summer 2017, but I haven't had a ticket since (I had to think about this one) 2009. There's a few things I've learned over the years to avoid tickets. Use your brain, and have good vision. Oh, and a concealed firearms permit (even in anti-2a states), a CDL, and a whole lot of respect towards the officer go a long way in avoiding tickets. I don't go any faster than 8 over the posted limit.

First thing I recommend doing is lifting the center console trim that has the bin and cupboard to see if there's a USB 2.0 mini cable that isn't connected. If not, this is going to be an expensive and time consuming project that'll involve removing the dash. If that cable connection is there you'll only need the SD card/USB mount for inside the center console and a new wire harness. That job is only a matter of removing the center console to change out the wire harness, and removing the front passenger seat to plug the harness into the truck. That's actually a very simple job. The wire harness is about $50 new through the dealer. I have one taking up space in my garage that doesn't have wireless phone charging and rear seat heat.

I'm in a rather unique situation. My truck is slightly different because I have the GM sportbar on the back. This made picking a tonneau difficult. The soft roll up tonneau are said to work with it, but I didn't have confidence in them. I initially bought the Rough Country hard trifold tonneau. It fit well with the sportbar, but I could only open the first portion when I wanted access to my bed. I tend to sit in the chair in my truckbed at my kid's sporting events. Soon the entire family wanted in on what I was doing, so I needed more access to my bed. I didn't want to deal with removing the 4 knob bolts for each and every practice and game, so I got rid of the Rough Country. Next up is a Retrax retractable tonneau. A quick and simple modification allowed me to make this tonneau work with my sportbar. Sitting in the truck bed for sporting events, the sportbar is in the way at the very end. I'm not getting rid of the sportbar because it has a lightbar on top of it that I actually use when offroading in the dark. The canister being under the sportbar, and not much bigger, made this a winner for my. Height-wise, I still have the bottom half of the truck bed under the canister that is usable. I'm still able to slide things like camping chairs, 10x10 canopies, bags, collapsible wagons, etc under it. I went with Retrax because it doesn't utilize the same location the sportbar uses for install, unlike Roll n Lock. RnL may make a good product, but it's method of install made it impossible for me to use. I'm very happy with the Retrax, and wish I'd picked it first. It's held up to daily use and the occasional offroading adventure.

The kit comes with everything needed for install. It's a wired setup. I have the premium that has both front and rear cameras. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth for downloading videos. Good quality audio and video. I got the camera setup when I bought my truck because I knew I was moving to California.

This thread has a very random start. Let's back up to the very first sentence in the first post. What letter? What sticker? Why is there a reduction in towing on these trucks? These, and many more, questions need to be answered. It sounds like the OP has a 2021 Trail Boss, aimed by the 9300 lbs towing capacity. I have a 2020 Trail Boss with the 6.2. I want to know more info.

Drivers side has a large rubber boot/grommet with a nipple on it. GM designed it for you to cut off the end of the nope and route through that. Pops through behind the foam surrounding the brake pedal on the high right side. This is where GM has the wiring for the upfitter switches going through.

I'm in California, so I'm stuck with 91 octane. I've had zero issues so far. I'd love to use 93 octane, but it's just not available. 6/20 build, so also in the bad valve spring timeframe, but no problems so far. I'll be at 18,000 miles on the odometer this week or next.

I have the thinkware kit from GM Accessories. However, it looks like you want something like sentry mode on the Teslas. I don't believe that's an option, and only Tesla has it.

First off, I've had this happen with a 2007 Tahoe with my wife and kids in the truck at over 70 mph (I-80 eastbound in Laramie, WY in fall 2012). Therefore, you and your kids would've been fine. Secondly, your engine is likely toast. Probably a broken valve spring, which led to a broken valve, which has chewed up the bottom of the head, the top of the piston, and the cylinder wall. You'll get a new engine. And, your truck will likely not be in the shop long enough to satisfy lemon law requirements. However, you could tell the dealership you bought the truck from that they can have it back, and tear up the contract. Many states give you 30 days to back out of a contract like this under consumer protection laws. With that said, I bought a truck to last me 15-20 years. If the replacement engine works, I'd take the truck back and enjoy it (although I'd be wary of this happening again). It's your decision on what you'll do.

Update: I definitely need to get the hvac tube installed. Went 4 wheeling in the truck today. Had my phone sitting in the charger for several hours. It ended up getting hot, both my phone and the charger. And, it was over 100° in the area I was 4 wheeling, however my truck had the ac blowing at 69° the entire time.

I finally got around to doing this install today, and I'm going to have to do it again. I blindly took the part numbers that were given in this thread and placed an order with my parts guy. He got everything I asked for, but one of them doesn't work for me -- the wiring harness. The harness I ordered doesn't have the connections for SD card reader, so I lost my factory navigation that I upgraded to and installed a few months ago. Doing some research I found out there's about 4 or 5 different wire harnessed that got used in this area. You either do have rear heated seats, or don't. You either do have a wireless phone charger, or you don't. But, there's nothing mentioned about the SD card in the bin under the armrest. Finding the correct harness will take a little effort. Fortunately, I love redundancies. Not only do I have Android Auto to help me l navigate me, but a recent update from Chevy provided those without navigation a navigation system that doesn't require the SD card and programs module. It's called Chevy Maps+. Iirc, I found it in the marketplace where you can add other apps to your radio screen. It's actually a pretty good navigation system, and gives those with IOS radios but not the fancy instrument cluster the speed limit of the road, and your speed, right there on the navigation screen. Sorry about going off into left field there. Back on topic.... This project is more fun than I cared for. I'm debating whether or not I want to install the hvac tube, but that's minor compared to this project requiring the removal of the entire center console and the front passenger seat. Yep, you read that right. When I finally get the correct harness, and go to install it, I'll try to get a bunch of pics and do a write up, including what tools I use. The good news there aren't many tools needed, and it's not a tough project. As for questions about the charging module being secured, the answer is it just sits in the tray. However, the tray gets secured to the top cover via screws underneath. I just happened to have screws small enough and short enough sitting around that I was able to secure everything together.

Iirc, changing the steering wheel control buttons requires changing the steering wheel to one that does what your looking for, plus a programming from WAMS. There's a thread in this subforum about it. Just scroll a few pages and you'll find it.

They aren't bead locks. Not meant for serious offroading. But, arguably, neither is this truck. Too big, too wide, and too long, imo. If you want a serious offroader get a Jeep Wrangler. The Trail Boss is more for cruising down well-traveled dirt roads to go camping or hunting. Definitely not for desert running or rock crawling.

If you want to take that reverse lighting to a whole new level, GM Accessories has that Putco blade lightbar for under the tailgate. It has red flag leds for turn signals, and uses those same leds for an additional stop light. However, when your reverse lights turn on the bar lights up in the same bright white the LasFit led reverse and license plates are. It's a whole strip of white light that really lights up the area you're backing into. The camera on these trucks really catches it, too.

You're welcome. I wasn't aware that midnight edition had different headlights until a few months ago. One of the things midnight edition got were HID LED headlights that have LED turn signals, same as the LTZ and High Country trucks. Trail Bosses without the midnight edition package got non-HID LED headlights with halogen turn signals.

Midnight edition? If so, the front turn signal is already led.
