  1. Home, sweet home. One day I shall return.
  2. I have the sport steps on my 2020 Trail Boss. I'm very happy with them. Some steps just aren't the right height or distance to/from ft l truck for using to get in and out. These have worked for me. I especially appreciate their rough texture to maximize grip. Not too rough for bare feet, but not a smooth that'll have you slip and fall on a rainy day. They do have a big downside, though. Mounting brackets are plates that are J-shaped. If you do any moderate offroading these mounting brackets are likely to hit the ground. I've done it several times with mine. If your truck will be a pavement queen, get the sport steps. If it'll see dirt don't get any steps.
  3. This deal happens 1 to 2 times per year
  4. I prefer the head units over Android Auto. Reason being, I like listening to the music on my phone. I currently have about 2,100 songs, and that list is constantly growing. I use the Samsung Music app because the Google Music app sucks. The head unit in conjunction with my phone via Bluetooth plays my music flawlessly. However, I do agree about the maps being outdated. The street I live on has existed for about 50-60 years. I can put my address into the navigation, and it finds it with no problem. However, every time I turn onto my street I get some audible notification that I'm driving in an area with no designated roads and to drive carefully. Granted, I know the area well, and don't need to use nav long before I get to my neighborhood. It's just a big circle with a grassy island in the middle. I just fail to cancel nav. GM does need to upgrade its game in the Infotainment department. I think GM struggles with how since there are so many varied opinions on this.
  5. Yes. You'll need to swap out the wire harness, too.
  6. Took my truck to the dealership on Thursday night for 15,000 mile service, oil change, 2 minor issues covered under warranty, and adding the keyless entry number pad. I'll get the truck back tomorrow since they needed to order a new tailgate bushing. While my dealership was installing the keyless entry number pad they sent me text messages with pics to ask how I wanted the number pad installed. Definitely appreciate my service writer taking the time to do that. If you're in San Diego I recommend contacting Katrina at Courtesy Chevy if you need work done on your truck.
  7. Here's a dirty little secret about scheduling appointments with the dealerships. They're BULL***T. Your truck goes into the back of the line when it shows up. The vehicle that shows up after you is placed behind yours. First come, first serve. We're use to the opposite because of other businesses like the dentist and doctors offices. They'll get to your truck when they get to it in the order it arrived. I'm in the exact same boat right now. My truck is in for minor warranty work. They won't approve a loaner until the tech looks at the truck and confirms warranty work. That should take 2 minutes, max. It's a failing bushing on the tailgate, and an led fog light with a short. I'm without a vehicle for maybe 1-2 weeks, based on what I've been told for 2 simple jobs that should take 15 minutes max for both jobs combined. The only reason I would get a loaner is because they have to wait for the replacement parts to arrive. If it sounds like I'm pissed off at the dealer or GM, understand that I'm not. It's just the way things are right now. I have no doubt the techs are doing their best, and the service writers that have to deal with dumb a**holes like you and me are burned out at the end of the day because we're up in their business being as displeasing as we can be (Actually it's you, not me. I'm nice to people when things go south because you attract more flies with honey than you do vinegar.). My truck is my daily driver. Being without it affects everything I do. The only thing that could've prevented my inconvenience is doing the work myself, even though it's covered under warranty (would've cost me about $200 and 15 minutes). I made the choice I made, and you made the choice you made. Man up and deal with it.
  8. And, you saved on airport parking expense
  9. Yup. Spent my fair share of time racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Well, not really racing, but having fun driving stupid fast. I've seen many driveshafts grenade at one end or the other. What's been said by previous posters about u joints failing, etc, I've seen happen at over 200 mph (fortunately from very far away). With that said, if I had the money to buy a truck just to see how fast I could push it, I would. I want to know what the mechanical top speed is for every car. I hate electronic limiters. Who's in? Let's all chip in. I'll drive for free because I think it's fun. At 130 we only need a fire extinguisher. If we achieve 130 the next goal is 150. We'll need to start talking roll cages at that point. I've done 172, and I'll happily do it again. Let's see if we can push a brick through whip cream thick air. All those in support, send money to my venmo. First goal is $75k. I'm thinking a 2wd RST with the 6.2 and 10-speed is the way to go. What do you guys think?
  10. Ray, this is on my list of things to do also. I haven't gone into much detail with it, but I am getting closer to doing it. I know we'll need the memory seat module. We'll need the buttons for the door, which means messing with the interior latch/handle. There might be something to do with the frame under the seat. I don't know because I haven't looked that far into it. I'm very interested in learning about this, too. The person that could tell us everything is Rally6.2RST on this forum. He's done it already. Btw, I'm literally a few minutes down 52 from you in Tierra Santa (Santo Road exit). I also have a blue Trail Boss LT. Maybe we can help each other in figuring this one out.
  11. Yes, I read it. I also asked questions about it here on this website. Apparently, some info I received was incorrect. I was told it was possible to do the install myself. Oh, well. It's no big deal. My truck is going to the dealership for some warranty work and am oil change tonight. I'll just add this install to the list of things that need to be done. Thank you for posting up the installation instructions. I started this thread not just for this one accessory, but for those who would like the install instructions for any/all GM Accessories. I know from experience, because my truck is practically a rolling display of the GM Accessories catalog, that most of GM's accessories don't include instructions anymore, but also don't require the dealer to do the install.
  12. Does anybody have access to this, and are the documents something that can be shared here? After waiting over a month I finally received an accessory I ordered, only to have a piece of paper inside that states, "For customer installation please request service instructions sheet from your local dealer." The item I need installation instructions for its GM part number 84182981. It's the numbered keypad for the driver's door.
  13. GM claims an increase in power. Are they lying?
  14. Lol. That's, verbatim, exactly what I said in post #7 before you got your feelings hurt. Egg is on your face now. I think you owe everybody an apology. I won't wait around to see it happen. I doubt you'll do it. Btw, I don't think the rear blocks, U-bolts, etc will work on the older trucks. The T1xx frame is wider.
  15. Don't take credit for my accomplishments. Clearly, I'm the one that hit your nerve. All I did was speak truthfully. You wanted the truth, but couldn't handle it.
  16. I placed an order for some truck parts over a month ago. Still waiting on fulfillment. No idea when it'll be available. It is what it is. I'm not complaining at all. Also seeing the same issues with firearms parts and accessories. Place an order for something with Optics Planet that says it'll ship June 1. At the end of May the ship date gets moved to July 7. Oh well. Just gotta be patient. It is what it is. It's not like businesses had a meeting en masse and all decided to screw customers by delaying their shipping.
  17. It's not just happening to you. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change and to have some warranty work done. I was told my dealer is so backed up that I won't receive a loaner while my truck is in for the warranty work. None available, and it's not like they can just pull onr off the sales lot because of depleted inventory. It is what it is. I put on my big boy pants and accepted this answer. It is what it is. A year ago when all this garbage started everybody started saying this would be the "new normal". Either accept it, or do something about it. Since your truck is new did you try pressing the OnStar button for help?
  18. Only rattle I hear in my truck is when my baby girl is playing with her toys
  19. If you think the amount of money spend will prevent a problem, then you're either a politician or willing to buy an imaginary bridge. For the record, my truck falls into the range of faulty valve springs. This could very well happen to me.
  20. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to disagree. But, keep in mind professional athletes are not chosen for their looks. They are chosen for their capabilities. You wanted a truck that could a desired result. If you think a T1xx serves the function, then get one. If you're looking for a supermodel, then this truck isn't the right one for you.
  21. Let me put it this way. My neighbor bought a 2016 F150 new 5 years ago for $39k. He just sold it to a dealership earlier this week for $36k. It was his daily driver. Losing $3k over 5 years is a he'll of a good deal. Now for his bad news. He needs to buy a new vehicle. Due to the microchip shortage worldwide, I wish him luck with that.
  22. I have the GM kit on my truck. I can't give you before and after comparison since I did the install immediately after picking up my truck from the dealer. It costs more than the others you're considering because it includes a tune that you need to take your truck back to the dealership for. The dealership should not charge you for the tune because you already paid GM for it. In the instructions is info for the dealer on how to bill the cost of the tune to GM. Also, replacement filters are recommended at 20,000 miles, iirc. They run between $60-$100 depending on where you buy it from. I've heard the kit was made in cooperation with K&N. Biggest advantages, imo, are a factory supported tune that won't affect your warranty at all, dealership backed parts, and won't affect GM warranty at all. Cons: It's expensive.
  23. See posts 2 and 6. Same part number. GM is only selling it as a kit.
  24. Where do we start with this one? The new T1xx trucks (2019+) are completely different from previous generations, starting with the frame and going up. You're comparing apples to oranges. If the new RST sits higher than your 2016, then start there. If you need 2 more inches on top of those 3, get the Trail Boss suspension package I linked above. Or, just buy a Trail Boss from the start. Your other option is to go with an aftermarket lift kit for your 2016.
