  1. You do not need anything additional for the NAV system to keep working but it will only have the maps that are currently downloaded to it. In order to get map updates you need to pay for them. They are specific to your VIN and are only available directly from Navteq/Here which supplies to GM: http://www.gmnavdisc.com
  2. They changed the plug in 2016. I don't know the correct harness number but if you search the forums or go back in this thread you should be able to find a couple different kit numbers depending on the year of the truck.
  3. HaHa - you complained about the heat while you installed a heated steering wheel! ;>)
  4. Does that particular Bulletin make you take the seat cushion off? I bought the same parts for about $6 online, reached under the seat, and snapped them in place. Added black plastic zip-ties over each end for additional holding power. The whole thing took me about 5 minutes and I haven't had the movement since ...
  5. Mine came from the factory with the first set of bed lights already installed so the wires were already there. If you buy the factory kit it comes with all the wiring you need and a plug that fits into a junction box just behind the spare tire. Search these forums and you will find threads with part numbers and pictures.
  6. Actually it was pretty easy which is why I went that route.
  7. A couple of notes I learned back when I did this fix: It's easier to get to the ground stud if you remove the tweeter first. Even if it looks like a good ground I would sand/file both the top of the dash and the underside of the nut. Do both sides while you have the dash apart (the G218 is on the driver side but there is a similar ground on the passenger side).
  8. Yeah I thought that was the easiest way to go. My truck already had the factory LED bed light kit that comes with 2 lights mounted near the rear of the bed and tied into the factory switch below the HVAC controls. I wanted a little more bed light plus a little light in the step cavities to see them at night. I just bought another factory bed light set off ebay and spliced them into the existing harnesses in the bed then bought 2 of these: https://www.oznium.com/led-bolts-prewired-leds/led-bolt and mounted them in the roof of the step cavity and spliced into the same wires (I wanted a softer glow so I wired some resistors inline before the bullet lights -- you can get them from Oznium too). When I use the factory cargo light switch on the dash the cargo light, all 4 bed lights, and both step cavity lights come on with no problems. And since they are tied into the factory wiring they will automatically shut off before the battery drains too low.
  9. Hey Phil -- not sure how you did your relearn but you can buy the tool for $13 shipped to your door: http://www.tpmstoolshop.com/wholesale/el-50448-auto-tire-pressure-monitor-sensor.html I use this exact one regularly on a 2013 Cruze, 2015 Silverado, and 2015 ATS without any problems.
  10. Actually it's illegal by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 571.108. That is a HUGE spec that controls everything about lighting, bulbs, reflectors, and how they need to be marked. Basically a vehicle and/or lighting system is designed and submitted by a manufacturer. Once the government tests and approves the setup it is meant to be used that way. Putting other bulbs in housings that were not designed, tested, and approved for them is illegal. Most police departments have better things to do than crack down on this so you see a lot of aftermarket bulbs, etc running around but that does not make it legal. There is also some really good info behind the reasoning of the spec here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/superwhite/superwhite.html
  11. Read further up in the thread -- that's the way I did mine. They are wired to the LED bed lights (which are wired to the factory Cargo Light switch). When I turn on the switch in the cab the step lights in the bumper cavity come on.
  12. If you don't add projectors you will be disappointed with your HID's. They are NOT designed to work correctly in reflector housings (as a side note it's also ILLEGAL to put them in reflector housings for this reason).
  13. The system is actually designed to work like that and has been since around 2005. Search back through these forums or just Google something like "GM charging system". You can find very in-depth explanations of how the system works. But under normal operation you can see anywhere between 12-14.4 Volts on the gauge.
  14. Yes search the forums there are a bunch of threads on this already. Known problem that GM won't do anything about. And once you are out of warranty the damper costs around $80!
  15. You can buy the clip online for around $6 and do it yourself. Search back through this thread for the part number (sorry I don't have it handy).
  16. Yeah I was worried they were too cheap to so I never tried them. Plus I don't want really bright lights. For now I still have the purple AMP ones but will eventually swap them out when I find the right ones (around 4500K and not real bright). Check all the adjustments. Basically you need to loosen all the bolts and slide the boards around, then open/close, then do it some more. Eventually you'll get them adjusted to where they move smoothly and the hinges aren't working against each other. They also should close just short of the LED pods but never touch them. Once you get all that adjustment done tighten everything back up and you should be good to go!
  17. Mine is a late-build 2015 (I guess you could call it a 2015.5) ....
  18. Mine are quiet. Just a little "thud" when they fully retract. Make sure you have them adjusted per the instructions and the hinges aren't fighting each other. If you want cheap but bright lights lots of people have just used these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/4x-Super-Bright-Lights-COB-DRL-Fog-Driving-Lamp-Waterproof-DC-12V-White-Car-LED/282068631441?epid=1673777219&hash=item41ac99bf91:g:nvsAAOSwepJXYMaG&vxp=mtr
  19. Okay just found this thread and I hate to rain on everybody's parade but: I have a 2015 LT with adjustable pedals. Mine had the flex / bad throttle response issue since the day I drove it off the lot. I shimmed the bracket and the response is much better. I just checked my pedal assembly and guess what the part number as built from the factory is? 23362231
  20. Correct. GM added that feature in 2016. The only way you can get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is by replacing the HMI. Chris White at MVI (and on these forums) can do that for you but you need to follow his instructions since the HMI has to be programmed to your VIN before you install it or you will brick it.
  21. I don't have the 2.0 but I have an original Trifecta. The 2.0 is basically the same but built with updated vinyl, hinges, and seals so it should be a little better. Mine has been great. I had trouble with the first one curling up near the corners but Extang replaced it under warranty. The replacement has been on for about 2 years now without any problems. Just so you know -- the soft covers flap in the wind. If you don't mind that (and the fact that somebody could cut through them if they wanted to) they are great. Because you don't have seams at each hinge point like the hard covers they are less likely to leak (the soft ones actually have a longer warranty than the hard ones because of this).
  22. I had this problem 2 times since I owned the truck. The last time the dealer still couldn't replicate the problem but I talked them into replacing the parts. As Justin said the pump is a new design with some extra baffles in it. The brakes felt a little different after the update (not worse or better, just different) and so far it hasn't done it again. An interesting side note -- I was having the loud ticking that everybody complains about and numerous dealers said it was the DI noise. They replaced the vacuum pump for the brake issue but I have not had the ticking noise since! Tell them to look up Bulletin PIT5361B.
  23. Okay that looks better. Good luck. If it isn't what you thought contact Chris White on these forums (also at www.whiteautoandmedia.com) and he can fix you up too.
  24. I hope your dealer knows what he is talking about but that doesn't sound right to me. To upgrade to NAV you usually need a few cables, a new HMI module, and possibly a GPS antenna. Here is the only GM kit I am aware of: https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/2016/Chevrolet/Silverado 1500/radio-navigation-conversion-kit-84093239?categoryId=12001
  25. Also check out the Leer Trilogy.
