Getting No Spark

yesterday my 2000 silverado 1500 5.3 z71 died at the boat ramp. The fuel was low so i thought the incline it was on was not letting it get fuel. So a friend towed it out and i added a few gallons of gas. Still nothing. Thinking the fuel pump died after 137,000 miles and it whining loud lately i spent the 300 and replaced it. Still nothing. I then checked the spark on the spark plugs and they are not sparking. Any ideas on what to look at or try next?

Check the battery voltage with a multimeter.

The battery should read 12 something volts with just the ignition on (not started).

Then measure the voltage inside the vehicle as well. Check from the center of the cigarette lighter to ground and you should get about the same voltage as at the battery.

Then check the following fuses...

INJ A

INJ B

ECM 1

ECM B

IGN 0

IGN 1

Fuse location information will be in your owner's manual. There could be 3 different "fuse boxes".

How to check fuses...

If the above does not resolve the problem, check *ALL* the fuses!

P.S. It is a good idea to unplug the trailer wiring before backing into the water.

And might want to check your boat trailer lights to be sure they are working ok once you get this problem resolved.
