Folding Mirrors

Just curious if my 09 has the option to fold the outside mirrors in automatically?

A couple of trucks I see in my parking lot at work always have their mirrors folded in, so I am thinking after they shut their truck off they fold in by themselves?

I checked my manual quickly today at lunch but couldn't find anything? They are heated, have the turn signal and will tilt down when reversing.

Sorry for the stupid question but did any year GM's have this feature? Thanks...........Irv

I assume that since you have a SLT you do have this option. Check to see if you have a slim rectangular button underneath the window lock button on your driver side window controls. If you do, pressing it one way puts the mirrors out, the other way pulls them in.

I have the power folding mirrors...is there any way to "lube" them or take them off to grease them?

Being that you have the signals, they fold in. There's a button on the window roll up switch on the driver side. But if you folded them in by hand your going to have to reset them.

The same botton that you use to adj. the mirrors...press the button in to fold them in, and out to fold them out.

I think I worded my post wrong? What I was wondering was, does my truck have the option to fold the mirrors in automatically when I shut my truck off?

I do have the button on the door pad which I mistakenly referred to as manually, this isn't a bad thing and no I am not lazy, I just there might be a way that I was missing to fold them in automatically?

They dont fold in by them selves. They will only fold in if you use the switch on the door or do them manually. I dont think they can be set to fold automatically when the truck in shut off.

I would think there is but I'm not sure how you would go about that w/o taking the mirror apart. At the same time it could possibly be the motor? I may have to have mine looked at as the driver side is rubbing where it folds. It cant be seen when the mirrors are out. But I can hear it when I fold them in and out.

Yea...I know there is a motor that folds them in (I believe its ele.) I will have to do some more looking, I would like to get in there to see if I can help reduce the friction when they fold in.

Read your owners manual.I think there is a section in there regarding programming the mirrors to fold in when you put the truck in park.I usually fold mine mine in before I pull in to a tite spot or for drive thru restaurants.They are a handy feature

Glad to see this was posted but...for other reasons than the OP. I wanted to wire up my lock and unlock to automatically fold them in and out. I have been paying close attention to when I park my truck and noticed that I fold my mirrors in more often than not. So, I figured it would be cool to setup the door locks to do it. My first guess is to just supply a signal to the same wire that is used to fold them in by pressing the mirror adjustment to the left or right.

What would be really cool would be to use the fobs to do it...which should be straight forward if the lock and unlock work.

Anyone done this?

Well while I cant say I've seen the mirrors fold in and out w/ the key fob I have seen set ups where the windows can be opened with the fob before you enter. I thought that was pretty neat. It was not set up on mine. I think it was on a Nissan actually.

As for the mirrors I'm sure it's possible. That would be pretty cool though!

Guys with the C5/6 Vettes alot of the time get Window Valets which when plugged in will open the windows when you unlock the car with the remote. There are alot of other features it has but can't remember them all off hand
