Xm Radio, Any Discount Codes Available Out There?

My wifes XM just expired this morning and she said she has to have it back. I was curious if anyone has tried the $77 a year deal recently. I used that when her trial expired a year ago and wasn't sure if it was still working or not.

I also have another question. I also have XM in my Sierra, but the free trial is ready to expire. Can I get a price break if I sign up 2 radio's for the same account?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have Sirius, and they should be similar. You'll have one subscription, and the second receiver will be a small additional monthly charge. I think mine is $5/month for the extra one. Don't know about the deals. I'm trying to get a converter installed so I can use the stock radio/menu.

Good luck!

Jim,

I signed up for a "lifetime" subscription for $400 just last month. I heard about it word-of-mouth. I just asked what pkgs they had. They ran thru them but didn't mention the lifetime pkg. It's good for the same radio for ever and if you change radios, you pay a transfer fee. That fee is currently $75. I figure it's likely a decent deal for me since I keep my trucks quite a while. We'll see.

I posted about this in the radio section before. Although, Sirius and XM merged, you still can't get the 2nd radio discount if they're not the same company. I bought a "brain" unit from TSS-Radio that works on the GMT900's. It works pretty good. It's called the SIRGM2L. It works almost perfect. I noticed when I use mine that changing the stations isn't as crisp as the XM box was. And every once in a while, I start the truck and for whatever reason it's not on the last station I had it on, but resets to the default 184 Welcome channel. Other than that, it works great, and now I can have the 2nd radio discount with my wife's Sirius set-up in her vehicle.

Why not try it and find out?

Worse thing you do is hang-up and call again to get a different associate.

I am surprised you did that. What happens if they go out of business in a few years.

That's certainly a possibility.

Guys, it's only $400. It ain't gonna change the way I live. But its also only about what the 3 yr subscription costs. So, I figure if I get to 3 yrs, I'm even. After that, it's all icing on the cake. Not braggin, but I have chonies that old.

The XM sales reps are pretty negotiable in my one experience. Ended up getting a 1 year XM + Best of Sirius (for NFL Channel) at $12.47 a month. It started out being like $18 a month for both services.

I was just able to get the regular XM for $77 a year minus the $12.95 for giving them my credit card. After taxes and some sort of channel fee, it was $83 total for 12 months. Thats not bad at all and they waived $21 that I owed for a month and a half of the $12.95 regular monthly charge.

My life will be better now that my wife is happy she has her XM radio back!!

+1

XM reps are all about deals these days. They are hurting for business. They are on shakey ground from time to time

Just as an FYI - I also got the $77 for 1 year as a renewal in July. They tried to tell me it was a one-time deal per radio that I already used last year - but I just asked to be transfered to cancellations and that person took care of it. I also got it on a second radio as well. It was marginally cheaper to go ahead and do both yearly than doing the regular "add a second radio" monthly option after the monthly is taxed and royalties every month. Plus this way both expire at the same time. I stuck with one year only and will re-up if they are still in business next time around. At my final costs (roughly $85 after taxes/fees per vehicle I'd have to go 4+ years on a "lifetime" plan before I lose money and I'm not sure they'll be around or I'll want it.
