1995 Gmc Sierra Not Towing Well

I have a 1995 Gmc Sierra 2500 ext cab long box with a 5.7L engine (150,000 miles). I have only had my truck for about 2 years, ever since I bought the truck I have thought that it didn't have a lot of get up and go it always takes a little bit for my engine to pick up speed. I have tried improving performance by trying fuel additives and the like. I even put in a k&n FIPK that helped quite a bit but when I am towing my dad's trailer up a hill, I could literally get out and run faster. I don't know what I should have checked on the engine, but something needs to be done about it and I'm not sure what.

In advance thanks for your help

I would start with a full tuneup. Can of Seafoam in the brake booster line, another in the tank. New fuel and air filters, new PCV Valve. Pull the throttle body. Clean the TB and Idle Air Control. New TB to intake Gasket. New AC Delco Cap, Rotor, NAPA Premium or ACD Wires, ACD platinum plugs gapped to .040". Don't forget to check/set your distributor timing. A new O2 sensor would be wise given the mileage of your vehicle.

Do a little searching and you should be able to find the details for all of these suggestions.

So I am having problems with my 95 as well last month I changed the filters plugs cap and rotor and wires. 2 weeks ago I pulled my horses up to a friends about 10 miles when i got back into town I pulled up to the light and I could barely keep it running. I've done the test that the chiltons book tells me to on the ignition module and stuff like that it finally threw some codes it did the tps low voltage and the map sensor so i tested them. we changed the map sensor but it still runs like crap. the book says when the ignition is on it should test around .5 volts it is reading 3.945. when you start it at an idle it is at 3.945 then when you give it some gas it'll go down where it is supposed to be. Is it the ECM that is bad or am i missing something?
