Just wondering if anyone has used a Superchips programmer in their GMT900 yet? I'm in Canada so its kinda hard to see anyone about a Black Bear Tune.

Ultimately i want to get rid of that throttle lag when I walk on it, had the truck a little over a year now and its really startig to get to me. More power and fuel economy are just a bonus. Thanks!

If BlackBear, or a true custom tune is not practical for you, I would recommend the Diablosport U7194, and go the handheld route.

I have the superchip cortex 2950 and it done everything I wanted it to do transmission wise and resizing the new tires and gave it more power than I was expecting from it

Do the either the Blackbear scan cable tune or the mail order tune. Don't waste your money on a handheld programmer. A custom tune by either Blackbear or Wheatley will be about the same in price but, much better in performance. Do a search and that will answer ANY unanswered questions.

Hey fellow Albertian. I use the superchips flashpaq programmer. I am quite happy with it. Gives you that extra power, and firms up the shifts quite abit. Also I just updated it and you can disable displacement on demand, so thats a bonus as well. There is also a program for better fuel mileage, but I'm not that interested in that one. To me the best part is the plug and play. I also have intake and exhaust which helps. How ever I am thinking about changing to a Edge Evolution, since I tow a trailer now it would be nice to have a display screen showing changing parameters. I see alot of talk about the black bear tune as well, but havent really bothered, I'm still on the fence on trading the truck in for a duramax....

I use an Edge Evolution. The reason I like it is because of the gauges. I know it doesn't take away the TM, but I can make do with that. Someday I might try a BB tune, but for now I am staying with the Edge.

Does it take away any TM. They told me with the flashpaq it removes about 50-60% TM. I do notice a little difference off the line. How do you like the edge for power.

Maybe it does? I didn't think it did. I like it a alot for the power. You can tell a difference with the power and the shifting. I usually leave it on the tow setting. Like I said, I really like it for the guages. If something is about to overheat the tuner will start flashing at you and tell you what is going on.

No, the TM is what creates a big lag in acceleration when the truck shifts. The only time TM comes into play is between shifts (up-shifts and downshifts). Diablo has NO TM control. I didn't think any of the handheld tuners did, but I read some where that maybe superchips removes some. TM has a BIG effect on acceleration. This is one of the many reasons most people prefer a custom tune. Not to mention a number of other reasons.

 

All that being said, if I was buying a handheld (I wouldn't) I would buy the Diablo. It's as close to a custom tune as you get without having a Custom tune.

i had my truck out at the sand dunes around my base and i was trying to climb a hill, not too steap or anything, a reasonable hill, but the sand was a little soft. in 4 high i got about half way up it when it just kinda sat there, foot on the floor, wheels not spinning at all. and the motor was sittin at about 2300...i thought that was TM as well. correct me if im mistaken.

 

i put it in 4 low and got up just fine btw. but i wish i didnt have to do that, thats why im getting the BB tune.

 

again, plz let me know if thats TM as well. ty.

Nope, that is just not enough torque, too little gear, too much tire and a torque converter that is asking to be toast.

 

 

TM only occurs between shifts. It is process designed to soften shifts and save transmission warranty work. With your tires and stock gears, I would recommend not messing too much with TM. You can get Justins opinion, but I personally would get gears before I would start removing the TM.

 

For my tune, Justin removed all of the TM while in regular D. But, since I tow frequently he left all the TM in my Tow/Haul mode.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
