Tranny Help - 09 Silverado

Need some help, I dont know much when it comes to the transmissions.....

Last night I was driving through town and I ended up on a hill with truck nose down, the traffic was inching up and so I followed, I noticed after I inched up it felt like someone behind me bumped me but they were too far away to have. So I inched up again and it did it again?? I did this about five times and everytime it would have the same reaction?? So I finished running around and started heading home, I was on flat ground and decided to try again, it only did it once or twice and not nearly as noticeable. As soon as I got home I left the truck running, popped the hood and checked the tranny fluid. It was appx. 3/8" lower than the 'hot' area that is scribed out on the dipstick.

I got my truck in June, it only has 2,000 miles on it, should I just take it to the dealer or what would you recommend?

Would slightly low fliud have caused my problem?

Did I check the fluid too soon after pulling in the driveway? Also, my driveway might have a very slight incline to when I checked the nose of the truck might have been elevated just slightly so maybe im not low as much?

Thanks guys!!!

Pretty common complaint on the 900's. Dealer will tell you that it's normal. Problem is the slip yoke on the driveline is sticking a bit. You can grease it yourself or complain to the dealer and have them do it. If you'll do a search of the site, you'll see other complaints like yours.

Your fluid check procedure was OK. If your truck was level and you were at operating temp you are just a wee bit low. Less than a pint I'd say. If your weren't level then you can't accurately measure

I should have done a search, didn't think about that. Thanks for the reply, I would probably rather do it myself - not a fan of letting the dealer work on my truck unless its completely necessary. (they like scratching my vehicles)

Thanks txab!
