Questions About My New Truck

Hi all,

 

Picked up a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT1 Crew Cab last Friday and after driving it around this weekend, I have some questions.

 

1) Have some creeking noises coming from the right rear leaf spring. Most noticeable at starting and stopping, but I can make it do it by pushing down on the rear bumper as well. Is this a common problem? If I take it to the dealer, will they fix it under warranty?

 

2) I've only had the alarm go off on me a half-dozen times so far

I want to unlock the truck with my key, but it beeps at me when I do that. I think I've figured out that if I lock the truck with the fob button once, I can unlock with the key. But, if I hit the lock button twice (making the horn sound), I will set off the alarm if I unlock with the key. Is this normal operation? Is there a setting somewhere that will allow me to unlock with the key no matter what without getting beeped at?

 

3) The radio confuses the crap out of me. I have something like 6 pages of favorites, and I like scrolling through the presets on a given page with the steering wheel controls. BUT, I got it stuck on page 6 somehow (all of the stations on that page are XM, and I don't have XM, so it doesn't seem to like to go anywhere). How do I select my favorites page?!?!?!

 

4) The drive back from the dealership on the freeway netted me ~19mpg. Added a bug deflector and took off the lower front airdam and now down to about 18mpg (although that was loaded with 5 guys and gear). We'll see how things stabilize...

 

5) Interested in getting some window vent-visors...any recommendations on brand and style? Do the 'push-in' ones work well? Not create much extra noise?

 

6) I'll get my act together and post some pics in the next couple of days...
