Transfer Case?

When changing the transfercase fluid I read that you should use Teflon on the aluminum drain and fill plugs threads when you reinstall them, but I wasn't sure whether it mattered if I used Teflon tape of Teflon paste. Also, I have the automatic style transfer case that calls for 2 quarts Autotrac II fluid and I was wondering when you have added the two quarts of TC fluid into the TC, will the fluid be at the lower edge of the threaded fill hole or below it? Thanks.

Yes to both.

 

I've used both, teflon tape and paste. I prefer the paste.

 

The fluid should be at the bottom of the upper plug hole.
