Weights Of 35" Tires

I am looking to order a new set of tires and right now its between the pro comp extreme ATs again (have had great sucess with them I will get well over 40k out of them. Or the hankook dynapro M/Ts. I am actually leaning towards the hankooks because I have heard alot of reviews of them getting exceptional mileage, 50k+ miles and they are a more aggressive tire than the xtreme A/T.

Which leads me to one more thought... When I put these tires on, I am going to re-gear the truck with either 4.56s or 4.88s. (I do alot of high way driving, and even the procomp 33's suck on the highway with 3.73 gears)

Alot of it has to do with the weight though, these E-range tires are all super heavy, 80lb tires. I feel like thats alot for these 1500s. Does anyone make a 35 thats not E-range. (I highly doubt it) Or even just a lighter tire? I know the procomps and the hankooks are both right around 80lbs a piece. I remember seeing a thread somewhere about tire weights and I cant find it.

Dick Cepek Fun Country Radial II's. 315/75/r16 (right around 35"). I have a set on my truck and I'd say they weigh close to about 50-60 pounds. They're also D range, and run at 50 p.s.i. which makes the ride ever so slightly less harsh.

Dick Cepek Fun Country Radial II's. 315/75/r16 (right around 35"). I have a set on my truck and I'd say they weigh close to about 50-60 pounds. They're also D range, and run at 50 p.s.i. which makes the ride ever so slightly less harsh.

Thanks.. those would be perfect if I had 16s! I just checked the 20s and of course they are E range and im sure heavy as hell.

What kinda wear are you getting out of those tires?

Hey steve, I know exactly what you're thinking.... i tried like hell to find a C rated tire, they'd ride so much better for our 1500 series trucks where D and E are overkill. Sadly, its more cost effective for tire manufacturers to only provide these tires in the D and E ranges so they apply to all trucks, not just light duty.

Im going to try to stick with D range for my next set, they'll be a little better than E's.

With that said, if you're lifted and you have a decent sidewall height... a D rated tire is probably better than C rated since the stiffer sidewall is better suited for the increased loads that a lifted truck exerts while turning.

I have yet to find a 35 in a "D" range.. right now im running 33s in E range.. I think I could find some 33s in E range but i really wanted to step it up to 35s and re-gear and maybe do the 1.5" body lift. Then I would be done. I just do alot of highway driving and I can really notice the weight of the tires. Re-gearing would help but even still the lighter the better..

Pretty good wear. The tires have been on there for about 30k miles, and I rotate them when I change my oil just for the hell of it. They look almost brand new as far as the tread goes.
