Tire Pressure

i have an 08 silverado hd, I pull and haul alot in the summer but not much in the winter. I usually let some air out of the tires for winter driving, last winter i had that damn light on in my dash all the time when i let them down to 45lbs. Is there a way to change the threshold at which that light comes one. I called the dealer last winter and they said there wasn't, but I've talked to a toyota mechanic and he thought there would be a way, but the dealer would have been in the dog house if they would have told me. Any of you guys have any ideas?

From what i understand it can be done but it depends on the dealer. I tried while I was still in NY and they wouldn't do it, haven't tried here in FL yet. I just run around 53psi up front and 65 psi in back. No lights at those pressures. Not perfect but it has better road manners than 60/80.

Maybe if you could convince them to lower the recommended psi by 10psi in the computer you could get away with 45psi without the light coming on. The damn lawyers (Ford Explorer/Firestone) screwed it up for everybody.

I worked in a GMC dealership a few years ago in Canada and it is quite easy to re-program the computer for almost any tire pressure (and tire size) that you would like, within reason of course. You HAVE to goto a GMC/ Chev dealer as they are the only ones with the correct computer (Tech II) to do the job properly. If you have a good tech he should be able to do it in 15 minutes.
