'94 Gmc Ignition Switch On Column

My Ignition switch went bad, so I pulled the steering wheel and lowered the column to get access. Got a new switch and got it in OK, but now I can't get it to line up right to get the shift lever to unlock. The switch has slotted holes and I went to both extremes and center but no luck. Chiltons says to install in locked position but that has not helped either. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had the same problem. Finally figured out that the wires from the switch come out to the right. I hope this helps.
