Squeak From Brake Pedal

I have a 2004 Z-71. Over the past month or so, the brake pedal has developed a squeaking type noise whenever I let my foot off after stopping. I have tried reproducing this noise by moving the brake pedal around when parked in my driveway, but it only seems to occur under driving conditions. Any ideas on what this might be? I have also noticed that I have to push the brake pedal a little harder to get the truck to stop. The pedal also has a groaning type noise occassionally whenever I press it during driving conditions. I took it to a reputable brake shop and my local dealer. Each said that the brakes were fine and no action was necessary. I am wondering if I would benefit from changing the brake fluid or bleeding the brakes.

mine was doing the same thing, and i sprayed WD40 everywhere behind the brake pedal. WD40 and duct tape never fail..

my noise was coming from the pedal, not the brakes though

could be that the slide bolts need to be greased. The calipers may not be retracting all the way.

more misinformation, nice try though,no offense, calipers don't retract using the sliders.

The pedal squeaks or the brake pads/caliper are squeaking. They are 2 very different things.

As for bleeding the brake system and getting the old fluid out of there, that is a very good idea. The fluid absorbs water and can rust brake components and the water causes the boiling temperature of the brake fluid to drop.

Yes, that is the correct solution, as I had a similar issue with my Mazda 626 car, and WD 40 solved it. You do not want to spray it "everywhere" behind the pedal, but rather look where the pedal pivot plastic bushings are. that's where the spray should be directed. It is these bushings that tend to squeak after some time and yesk, it can be extremely annoying.
