Viper 5901 Advice.

hi all, im considering the viper 5901 kit for my 07 classic. the viper seems to be a kit that gets good reviews here. i dont know if ill need more than just the kit or not. i keep hearing about bypasses and im not sure if i need one. my truck does not have a factory alarm on it. its just a faker... the horn can be sounded and the doors lock/unlock with my FOB. there is a little red LED on the dash that flashes but theres no security system. can anyone tell me if ill need the bypass and what else i might need if anything. id like a remote start and window control as well as the security system. thank you.

Hey the Vipers are great units. I've had an old alarm/remotestart in my old jeep for 10 years, never a problem. It's a good idea if your not sure how to install it to have a pro do it. Go through the build a system on the viper webpage and it will tell you what modules you'll need to get what you want.

you still have to bypass the passlock system so you will still need a bypass module, such as an xk01 or something similar, the XK01 comes with the firmware preloaded so that if you get a remote start it will automatically turn the heated seats and defrosters on, it also makes the install much easier all the connections are between your aftermarket alarm/keyless/remote start brain to the XK01, the only connection you have to make to the truck is for the accessory ignition and starter kill, everything else such as door locks, lights and horn all go through the data line of the OBDII connector under your drivers side dash(i believe the data wire is the violet wire.)click here for more information on the XK01 bypass module!!

just finished installing a 5901 on my 06 vmax...install was a breeze (except finding somewhere to mount the horn that I liked) and it works like a charm. Definitely the best alarm system I have ever owned. I used an XK01 and it was very simple!
