Tachometer

I've got a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD Classic. Today I noticed my tachometer is not functioning. It is on zero all the time. I shut off the engine, restart it, and the needle goes a hair below zero for a fraction of a second then right to zero steadily, regardless of engine speed. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

yes ,you take it in to the dealer for repair, the part number is taken from the failed cluster and then it is ordered and then you bring it back so the tech can replace it and then program the cluster and add the milage and hours also with the scanner.

there MAY be a special policy for you ,check with the service manager

Yep...stepper motor

had this prob when I bought my 03, mine was the speedometer

the stepper motors are 11 bucks on eBay if its not under warranty....but I would caution against doing it yourself, unless you have experience with gauge clusters...it is very easy to break one of these motors.

How about this, the tachometer is working normally today. Would it still be the stepper motor going bad?
