305/50/20

I sold my stock wheels and tires and I'm getting some new 20 inch rims and tires to run in the winter. I'm pretty sure I've seen people on here running this size (305/50/20) but I haven't been able to find the old posts/topics so If anyone is running this size my question is what width rim and offset are you running, I would rather get a smaller tire than have to deal with rubbing of any kind. Any pictures would be great as well.

Thanks...

I used to run 305/50R20's on my blue sierra on 20X8.5" rims with +18mm offset. I had a very slight rub in reverse at full lock when stock, but with a leveling kit, none whatsoever.

Looks good, what kind of tires did you have? Also do you think if the offset on your wheels would have been like 30 or 35 it would have help prevent the rub in stock form? I have 305/40s on my 22 inch rims and they never rub but the 305/50/20s are slightly taller and I was going to get some tires with some aggressive tread and that could potentially make them rub easier than a "street" tire.

I had Toyo Open Country A/T's.

I think more positive offset would have hurt me and caused more rub. The more positive the offset, the farther in the wheel well the tire sits.

So I take it the rub was on the inboard side of the tire? Well anyway thanks for the help.

I ran that size with with a rough country 2" leveling kit, and +18 offset wheels. It rubbed hard, forward full lock, reverse was terrible, even going up hills with a turn in them where i needed some flex.. it rubbed hard. That was with trimming.

You can run a 33" but the 305 is just too wide.

That's exactly the kit I ran and had NO rubbing at all, ever, under any circumstance.

I'm sure with the right width and offset the 305s would work fine, I'm leaning towards just getting some 275/55/20 ,bigger selection on tires and the tires are also cheaper in this size for the most part. Thanks for all the input and help.. Now I need to choose a rim

Perhaps they were 305/55's?

Maybe so. That might make more sense.

Jenna, I only had rub BEFORE the leveling kit. After, I had none.
