[gmt900] Installing Hood Protector/deflector

Hello again guys...

 

I bought a brand new Stampede protector/deflector for my GM Silverado 1500 (Light duty) 2009. The deflector model is 2042-8 (chrome). I read the instruction to install it but I have a very important question about the two rubbers bumper that go below the hood. My question is: Are the two rubbers going to be installed on top of the deflector (rubbers bumper pushing on the deflector) OR are the two rubbers bumper going to be installed between the hood deflector AND the hood itself?

 

This is pretty hard to explain so you can look at the two pictures (representing the side view of the hood) and tell me which one is right (picture 1 or 2)?

 

Thank you for your help. The instruction doesn't show one or the other possibility! It just says to put back the rubbers in place, nothing more...

bumpers go on back of deflector pointing towards hood so that way if wind / bird / or person pushes / hits it .. etc.... it wont scratch the hood
