Hi guys, just picked up a used 02 sierra ext cab, love the truck except the factory stero all lights are gone except for the ones near the volume knob, it is a factory delco with the cd player, it sounds good enough for what i need it for, I am just wondering if it is an easy fix? thanks in advance.

No I don't think it is.

The lights, if I am correct are connected to a printed circuit board.

so that means that i am kinda screwed, i guess gotta go to the scrap yards!

I've seen a thread here or another site showing how to switch these bulbs. It does require the use of a solder gun and a little skill

I have also seen a How-to on another site. I believe it was on FullSizeChevyForum. My #2 and 5 buttons are burnt out, thinking about switching them out for different colors along with the gauges too.

Scrap yard may actually pay you to take one of these radios.

I have a couple at home my self, but they're the newer style ones from my 03 and a buddy's truck...cant remember the year.

If all else fails...Ebay.

I did this to the CD deck in my 02. I only had the original AM/FM radio and bought the CD player from someone parting out their truck. Most of the lights were gone, but about $10.00 and an hour later, I replaced all lights. If you can solder, it is rather easy to do. There is a sticky on fullsizechevy.com that explains the process. http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/genera...eplacement.html I posted updated part information on page 2. Good luck

Yeah, that's the stereo I thought it had.

Like I said, I have a couple of the newer style ones at home...and if you wanted one you could have it....but than you would need to go to the dealer and get it unlocked, which cost a fair amount of money.

That's a good post, you should be able to do this fairly easily, but you should probably replace all the lights in there while you have it open, so you don't have to do it again in a few weeks. I don't know if its possible, but replacing them with LED's would be good, than they would last damn near forever.
