Anyone Herd Of This Before

I was informed by a family friend that worked at Ft Wayne assembly for many years that as parts get put together and come down the line if the door gap is not perfect, or the paint does not match just right the part is moved to a chevy or the truck gets the chevy conversion. All the GMC's that come off the line must have perfect body lines and gaps and the paint must be perfect, the seats, carpet and headliners must also be flawless or it goes on a chevy.

Has anyone else herd this before?

I find this extremely hard to believe. I was exclusively a Chevy guy until I bought the GMC that I have now. There is no difference other than the badging and body panels on the newer trucks.

Well I think you have your answer then.

If anything, the GMC gets something LESS than the Chevy as it comes down the assembly line. They spare the GMC from getting hit with an ugly stick

also, it has been said that all the gmc guys at the factory were suits. You must were suit and tie to work at a gmc plant

GMC...formaly "Rapid motor vehicle company" founded by max grabowski i belive started as the first commercial company but i think now has moved to a more expensive truck, offering a little step up on trim levels and options that you have to order on chevy are standard on comparable gmc trucks.

Gentlemen,

The GMC line was developed to allow non-Chevy dealers, Cadillac, Buick, etc. to sell a truck without the Chevy brand on it. That is its sole reason for existence. I used to buy Chevy parts from the GMC store all the time.

yup, caddys and buicks are a bit more of a step up in class than a chevy

I have always thought that in GMC was a more work ready version of Chevy. Although the past 10 years or a little more GMC has been getting better options then Chevy. Now GMC carries the luxury line.
