Getting Battery Power To The Rear

I just bought an inexpensive winch, and a mounting plate that slides in the hitch. My problem is the cables that are attached to the remote that hook up to the winch and the battery arent long enough the reach the battery from the rear end. I am trying to find out the easiest way to get power to the rear end. and what I could do for a plug and play option. Should I run some heavy gauge wire from the battery up along the frame to the rear?

Get some welding cable and run from the battery with an in-line fuse.

Check the amp draw of the winch.

As for winch power connect you could use what most electric forklifts use.

At work we had a truck that had a Warn winch installed on a mounting plate with a receiver sleeve so that it could be mounted to the rear receiver or on a front receiver we had installed. They ran a cable with the forklift style quick connect to the front and the back. If you can wait a week, I'll take picture of what the installer did and post.

In the meantime, there may be install instructions on Warns's website.

I did get the mounting plate that fits into the hitch. I ran a 4 gauge wire from the battery to the rear. I still have not found a good weather tight solution for the rear end connection. I would still like to see pics of that set up if you dont mind.

plus 1 on this idea, def. your best option for the application, and def. use welding cable for the flexibility and power demand.
