Changer locations?

I am trying to figure out where to put my pioneer 12disc changer in my ext cab.  It seems that most just put it under the rear seat.  That seems like a lot of wasted space and you no longer have the flexibility to put the seat up and put stuff on the floor.  Have any of you put it somewhere else?  Front seats do not seem to work since they slide too much.  I was looking at the ledge above the the rear seats, but it looks like the rear seat crushes it when it is put down.  Any ideas?

I don't know what 12 disc changer you have, but mine won't work on the shelf.  I was thinking about moving it up there, but like you said the seat woud hit it.

 

I mounted mine under the rear seat, on the drivers side.  It really hasn't been a problem there, as far as not being able to but anything in the floor, I guess it all depends on how big whatever is is that you want to put in the floor.  

 

Is yours an FM modulated?  Mine is, I've actually have it since '95.  I mounted the display up in the overhead console.

my eclipse is on the drivers side, under the rear bench. i could put it on the little shelf deal. but got lazy and just slapped it there. i may move it to the other side so i can just drop in one of those custom boxes. if i happen to find a decent car. most changes have a option to mount laying down or standing up. you just have to make sure its set for whatever postion you mount it in.

Yeah, I looks like it barely does not fit up there.  That would be an ideal location.  I don't have the FM modulated one, but its the same size.  I took it out of my old car when I sold it, but I need to buy a new Pioneer headunit.  I just have not gotten around to it.  From looking at different spots, it looks like you pretty much have it in the only place it will fit.  Just wondering if anyone has gotten creative.  This way I would not have to reinvent the wheel
