4l70e Transmission Noise On 3-4 Shift

Just before (about 1/2 second) the 3-4 shift I hear a clicking noise coming from the trans area. It does it about 75% of the time and can vary from a soft click to a pretty loud pop. It sounds like a solenoid, but I am not aware of anything that should be making enough noise to be heard from inside the cab with the windows up and the air on. It definitely wasn't there when the truck was new and seemed to start doing it about 2k miles ago. To reiterate - it does it just before you feel the shift start, not during the shift, so it doesn't have anything to do with slack in the drive train.

Anybody have any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks.

do you have warranty?

Yes, but I want to have an idea of what could be wrong before taking it in, in case I get the "working as designed" or "could not duplicate" or "we can't find anything wrong, bring it in again if it gets any worse", etc.

its a noise that has to heard by a tech and you ,go for a road test with the tech and duplicate it for him.

I've never heard of a noise but take it in and go with the tech or service manager.

you may not get an answer here but that isn't necessary ,

make sure they have a tranny guy and if you don't like the answer you get ,take it to another dealer .

thats what has to happen for a happy customer .

good luck

is the oil dark at all ?

The fluid looks good. Nice and pink and doesn't smell burnt.
