It's Been A Great Ride

Hey All!

I know it's been a long while since I've posted on this forum - with job changes and moving and whatnot, I've been extremely busy over the summer, and am still pretty busy with everything.

The Silverado has been great to me for 3 years of ownership, and I've got no complaints.

However, the lease was up, and it was time for me to get into something more economical and affordable.

Soooo, I'm now a proud owner of a 2010 Pontiac G5! It's a fun little car and I'm loving it!

Wait... a 2010 Pontiac? No such thing as far as I was aware... 2009 was the end of the road....

And talk about a downgrade! Whatever makes you happy I suppose....

just being curious, did the dealership give you any problems with the upgrades on the Silverado? did you have to take it back to stock before making the switch? what is your overall opinion of going with a lease? I may be looking at a lease for my next gm truck.

Welcome to the small car club, I drive a 2005 sunfire while my wife drives the truck now. We moved and my daily drive went from 13 to 70 miles, while my wife drives 6!

That kind of sucks. Not the car, but the trade. I wouldn't want to give up my truck. But if it suits your needs better, you got to do what you got to do. My dad has a Silverado but he drives far to work too so he also has a Corolla.

Well, I don't know but I've noticed that now On GMC commercials, they no longer say "visit your Pontiac, Buick, and GMC dealer". Now they just say " Buick GMC dealer".

Haha, yeah it's a 2010 - build in Lordstown. It was built on August 26th 2009. Maybe it's just a Canada thing...because doesn't the G5 just come in 2 door versions in the states too? I'm not too sure.

I did a lot of research before buying a vehicle, and I have not heard of any horror stories regarding the G5, mind you I don't know enough people personally to really find out. The couple people that I know who have a G5/Cobalt have had no problems yet.

The lease experience was good. I didn't have to worry about too many things because most of my aftermarket stuff was made by GM. I took my side steps off and my floormats to sell, but the rest of the stuff (CAI, Bug Deflector, muffler, etc) were just left on, and as far as I know there are no problems with that....at least I hope not anyways..I'll be looking for a letter in the mail or something...I haven't been notified yet, and it's been almost a week.

I don't think I'll lease again, because you don't really get anything out of it after you are done. It's a cheaper method than buying in the short term, but I always just though of it as a "rental" because I was giving it back at the end of the lease...plus with the lease, you are stuck until the end of it, whereas buying, you can always sell or trade for another vehicle (your wallet will take a hit but it won't be near the cost of buying out the lease a few years early). It's just really a matter of what works best for you.

Yes, it's a bit of a downgrade, but it's an upgrade to my wallet...that's for sure! The little car is actually a lot of fun, and is peppy too. Mind you, my truck wasn't tuned, so I never experienced the "real" power of the truck. I don't have any buyers remorse, and I'm pretty happy with my purchase. It actually fits into the garage now, which is nice!
