Hid Conversions?

my headlights suck, between the frosted lens and the only hi/only low switching I'm not getting much visibility at night. I know about the clear lens upgrades and the sylvania silverstar bulbs and the painless relay to allow both hi and low on at once - but after much searching on here, other sites, and google I have not seen anything about a viable HID (both bulbs *and* projectors) upgrade for the older trucks.

any options exist?

I wouldn't suggest doing it. It's illegal. If your vehicle did not come with HID's from the factory (at least in the great state of WI) it is illegal to equip them aftermarket.

Yes I know places sell them, but that still doesn't make them legal.

Meguiars makes a great kit to clean up those hazed lenses. I used them on my 95 and the light output almost doubled. I would also look into getting fog lights

Not in WI - could you post whatever info you have on these places?

i put hids in my truck, it was very affordable ($50 per kit), i purchased the kit from a store off ebay called xenon factory, they come with a 2 year warranty on the ballast and the lamps, if you dont have a dual element headlight bulb you will need to buy 2 kits(4 ballasts, 4bulbs), the only thing i dont like about them is that if i turn on the high beams it takes a few seconds for the bulb to warm up to full light output, and if your thinking about getting aftermarket headlight housing as well i would purchase the housing first to make sure you get the correct bulb necassary, you should be able to find both hid conversion kit and the headlight housing on ebay.

No I don't have any info. Call your local police department and ask if the state has any laws against it, or if your city/village/town has any local ordinences forbidding it.

Its illegal in all states.

I would start with a headlight restoring kit and see how much that helps and then go from there.
