Tow/haul For Nnbs 2500hd

the company work truck i use is an 09 silverado 2500hd ext cab, when towing a trailer in tow haul mode if im going down a hill and tap the brakes then let off the 6speed transmission downshifts sometimes up to almost 5000 rpm, is this normal/healthy for the transmission? any1 with similar symptoms?

This is normal for the 6speed it is a braking system called Grade Braking. It's trying to help you take some load off of the brakes.
