True Dual Vortec 5.7

I am going with true duals on my 5.7 vortec (2 cats, 2 mufflers, no crossover just real true duals)

 

Question...

 

What do i do about the O2 sensors after the cats? Would you just buy 2" in/out cats and not mess with the little cat piping. Or can i get 2.5" in/out cats and the exhaust shop can weld O2 bungs in the 2.5" pipe?

you can get cats up to 3" in/out maybe bigger

You just buy weld in bungs...they're like 7 bucks each

 

You should really have an H or X pipe in there to equalize both banks and help with scavenging. X-pipes are better at scavenging than the H...but the H gives a more mellow rumble, where the X is raspy.

alright ill just get the 2.5" cats. if they weld in new o2 bungs so be it. if not ill buy o2 sims. i dont want my cel light on.

I would buy them just in case....but a good shop....not Midas...I said good.....will know what they're doing.

and 2 O2 bungs....somewhere you can get them cheap....non brand name...the innovative ones are 50 bucks....the generic ones that are exactly the same are like 7-10 bucks.

Than get a shop to supply pipe...or you can try and supply it your self, whichever you can do cheaper...T304 stainless is the standard Exhaust stainless steel.

Or you can go with regular aluminized steel pipe if you want.

2 magnaflow 4x9 oval 14" body 2.5" center in/out

 

and 3.5x22" stainless tips

 

prolly just regular ol aluminized pipe

 

 

 

damn va i would just cut the dang cats out if i could find an inspection station to pass it.

Yeah emission testing blows....only done on the mainland here. The Island is free to blow out all the smog it wants.

 

Those are some really huge Tips man...wow 22"...

Why do you not want to run a crossover pipe? I good single 3 inch exhaust system will out perform a "true dual" system without a crossover and be a lot cheaper.

Yup that's what I'm doing when I redo my exhaust...but it wont have a muffler....

 

May have one of these instead.....
