No Tpm Dummy Lights Or Anything Else For That Matter?

I just put my new snow tires/rims on yesterday and after I was done I noticed I had no idiot lights on or anything else?

 

All 4 summers came off and my new winters went on, why do I not see any warning lights on my dash?

The rims came with the TPM's but I did not reset, adjust anything, just removed the rears first then the fronts last.

Give it a day of driving, the TPMS light will come on. If not ...your system probably won't be accurate without tuning the new TPM sensors to the truck.

Thanks for the info but it has been 2 days now and no "warning" lights yet?

 

I guess the best thing to do is just reset the TPM system as outlined in the owners manual and see what happens?

 

It just surprised me as I read lots on hear that if I didn't get TPM's with my winter rims/tires that I would be staring at a warning light all winter long?

Maybe your sensors are "smarter than older ones. Your not by chance driving around with the summer wheels still in the truck? I've read that some sensors still read from the bed of the truck. Are they reading the correct pressures?.. if so, I wouldn't touch them.

Good question, I will check the pressures shortly,,,and no, the summer's are put away, no where near my truck. Thanks

Checked the pressures this morning and they are all reading low, front left was 196 and the remaining 3 were at 164? Funny numbers but I haven't verifed them yet?

you are reading the pressure in kPa (kilopascals)

 

196 kPa = 28.4 psi

 

164 kPa = 23.8 psi

 

see the above link for a convertor from psi to kPa

depending on which grade or load range tires you have you will likely want these tires to be somewhere between 30 and 40 psi

30psi=207kPa

35psi=241kPa

40psi=276kPa

Thanks for the link above Rod, I believe those numbers are the same numbers from my summer set? I had the right front tire removed at the dealer back in the fall due to an out of round tire issue with the cheap Good Year tires!

I never reset the TPM's when the wheel was reinstalled but I thought for sure after I changed them out to my new winter tires, I would see a warning light on the dash?

 

I believe the new set are all set at 35-40psi but I will verify that this wknd when I am resetting my TPM's?

 

The new tires worked great this morning, we got about 10-15 cm's of wet slop/snow and they went through it without any issues.

I drove in just 2 wheel drive for the first while to see how they worked and I had no problems pulling away from vehicles who were sitting there spinning(no weight in the box either and less than a half tank of fuel)

Once I got closer to work the snow became deeper and trickier so I switched to auto then 4x4 just to be safe.

With only one trial run on these new tires, it is not enough to give a complete thumbs up or thumbs down in my opinion but from what I experienced today, I would be willing to bet it will be a full thumbs up after a month or 2 on them!
