Installed Rough Country Leveling Kit

Recommended Posts

I finally was able to install my 2" Rough Country leveling kit on my 2009 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Z71 4x4. It looks absolutely wonderful. The ride is no different from before and I really like the look of my truck now. Want to do something with the intake but I'm not sure, do any of you guys have any suggestions? I'm thinking about going with a K&N cool air, but I'm not 100% sure. Just wanted to get some feedback from you guys. I'm going to post a before and after pic of the truck.

The truck looks good! A lot of us around here have the RC 2" kit. As for the intake, I installed the Airaid MIT. I gained some noise and maybe a little quicker throttle response... maybe. I'm happy with it and for around $100 it's hard to beat.

Did you get in on the Black Bear tune meet this weekend in Concord?

Nah I didn't get in on that. I'll have to check that out for next time. Thanks for the compliments and information.

Looks good. I have the K&N kit and I noticed a lil difference but not to much. Might help more after I get it tuned next spring.

That looks great. Where is the best place to buy the RC kit? I would need it for the 2500 Ext Cab.

You won't be needing an RC kit for your 2500. The GMT900 HD trucks like yours still use torsion bar suspension, so in order for you to achieve a front lift you'll want to either just crank the torsion bars or change the torsion keys. The RC kit only works on half ton (1500) GMT900s (which do not use torsion bars).

Looks great! I did my a few weeks ago and really like the results. One thing I did at the same time was remove the lower air dam (valance). It makes the truck look like it is sitting up higher. Here are some before and after pics:

When you took it off did you lose any MPGs? I think it looks much better with it off too.

I don't do enough highway driving to really check MPG accurately. I haven't noticed any change around town!

I would love to put this on my truck. My only concern is wether this "plastic" [for lack of a better word] will really hold up. I have read previous threads in which people say it last, but I havent read anyone saying that they have had it for 5 years and its still holding up. Also I would like to know if you go off roading and you bottom out the suspension if it holds up/ cracks. Basically has anyone broken a set yet? Again, yes I have read previous threads and havent really seen any of these questions answered.
