Check Engine Light On My 2008

I got an exhaust put on yesterday on my 2008 GMC Sierra Z71. It sounds freakin' awesome, but I do have a problem; for some reason my check engine light came on. Now I did look at the manual and it says that if you change anything to your engine, transmission, intake, exhaust, and even tires that the light will come on. The light is annoying and now my remote start won't work. I was thinking about going to the dealership and getting it decoded, but I also heard that if you take the positive battery cable off for a few minutes that it will reset everything. Is this true? Help me please

I have heard some stories of success with the battery cable removal trick, and some did have to take the dealer, what type of exhaust set up did you go to Cat-back?

I got true dual 12 inch glass packs. Pretty redneck, but hey I live in Northwest Louisiana

Well I decided to take the positive battery cable off for a couple of minutes, and surprisingly it worked. We'll see how long that lasts.

If you did not keep the cats and the O2's hooked up your going to get an SES light. You need the fronts at least for fuel control.

I kept my cats on my truck. I heard if you take them off, especially on newer model vehicles that some electrical problems would occur

Well I thought I was going to put a sound clip on, but my camera is a piece of junk. I do have another camera but it's gettin' dark and I don't feel like stumbling around in the front yard lol.
