Given that you're running out of ideas, I'd pull the rear driveshaft and take it to a driveshaft shop. They can check it for straightness and balance it. Put new u-joints in while you're at it.

Maybe you can check the rear pinion backlash and bearing (by hand) when you have the driveshaft out. It's a longshot, but I've known of a pinion nut to back off and pinion bearings to go bad. They'll make some noise, but usually it's easily identifyable.

Have you ever seen a u-joint cause vibrations even though they don't have any visual play?

The only thing I can say about that is; if they get brinelled, they make some vibration. But your issue doesn't sound like a u-joint issue to me. It doesn't cost much to check and balance the rear shaft.

My 99 2500 had a 75-80 mph vibe that drove me nuts. I narrowed it to the front driveshaft. I replaced the u-joints twice, had the shaft checked for straightness and balance, rebuilt the front diff, rebuilt the transfercase and replaced the front output shaft/sprocket that has the spline. That last part helped get rid of most of it. I have a new yoke that goes into the transfercase spline. That could get rid of the last bit of vibe.

That reminds me, check the sideplay in the rear driveshaft. The rear output has a sleeve bearing in the case, kinda like a cam bearing. It would have to be very very loose for it to cause your problem, but I suppose its possible.

I jacked up the truck barely off the ground and spun all four tires with no noticeable out of round. Also checked for play and rough bearings, none found. Did find some play in the rear u-joint, having them replaced tomorrow, hope this fixes the problem.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the u-joints fixed the vibration, just in case one day you run into this problem. When the rear u-joint was removed under one of the caps the bearings were completely gone and the tip of the u-joint was badly damaged, mechanic that did the work said it would not have lasted much longer. luckily this was found before I made a road trip this weekend. Thanks for all of the assistance.

I have the same problem in a 05 chevy truck single cab but I don't know where is the vibration is but I think is the rotor because I spin the rotor and I look at the caliper and

Caliper bracket and it moves side to side like 1/2 inch what u guys think

rotor will have some play with tire and calipers off. If you still have movement with the tire on then there is a problem.
