Onstar Disabled Truck! Won't Start, Please Help!

Hi, I have an 2008 GMC Sierra 3500 with the 6.6 L Duramax Diesel engine. My truck won't start and I believe it has been disable by OnStar whom I have been having all sorts of weird issues with lately. I would like to just remove it all together as I don't find any real valve from the service as the truck stays on a farm most of the day.

So I have already taken out the VCIM (been trying to research this stuff lately) and disconnected the antenna from the top of the truck. I also pulled out the XM radio unit but it still wont start. (I put the key it and the lights come on but it just wont try to turn over...) Is there some kind of "go code" that OnStar has locked? Can I bypass it? At this point I am willing to do just about anything, buying software to run through the OBDII port, etc.

Can anyone give me some guidance on if it can be done?

Thanks for any help and or suggestions! Happy Holidays!

why do you think its the Onstar and not something a little more common to cause a no-start issue???

Or did you steal it so you're pretty sure the owner called Onstar so they disabled it... :)

Did you happen to try calling Onstar? If they did disable it, they should be able to enable it. After that, just call up and cancel the service.

No I assure you it is not stolen. ha ha ha I know it is not "another" issue just because I had already checked the usual but all were good. (battery power, connections, etc) The truck is only about a year old and has under 10,000 miles so I am pretty sure nothing else would be worn out. I am planning on calling OnStar later tomorrow, I just figured that since I really don't want OnStar or there equipment in my Truck I would do away with it all together, but I guess if there isn't a way to bypass the stupid OnStar system, I will be calling Onstar yet again tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah i would definitely try calling Onstar before ripping it out. :)

Once your truck is running properly, then you can cancel the service and disable the antenna if you're concerned about them spying on you. I personally wouldn't go as far as ripping modules and wiring out... You never know if you'll want to sell the truck for some reason and that sure doesn't help resale value.

Yeah I wasn't planning on ripping any wiring out or anything, just disconnecting modules, so that it IS completely disabled. I always seem to get dragged into crap with OnStar and there service so far has been horrible. I really just don't wanna deal with them anymore. ha ha.

So no one know of a way to get this damn truck started so I can get it off my freaking field and into my barn?

Thanks...

Your truck is under warranty and On star is not the problem. If it wont start call the dealer and have it towed, road side assistance will pay the tow. BTW big brother isn't watching you if you didn't do anything wrong like stealing the vehicle.

+1 I don't understand why that wouldn't have been your first call. Now you are going to have to explain the the dealership why you tore the truck up....

Don't forget to make yourself a beanie before you put it all back together. OnStar will know you took it apart if you don't wear one to block your thoughts.

Here's how to make one.

LOL...I liked this one

My 2006 Sierra was stolen 2 days ago. The surveilance camera in the parking garage showed it driving away. Obviously the passive ignition system did not work. Not even any broken glass by the truck (or where it was parked). It was stolen in Dallas. I will not be replacing it with a new GMC, even though I really liked the truck. My next vehicle will be a non-descript beater that nobody will want to steal.

Someone stole my truck..so I'm getting a POS so no one steals it again. Really??? punish your self cause someone stole your truck...thats a little overboard....

 Seriously.... I wonder if that toolbag will castrate himself if his girlfriend breaks up with him, you know- so he doesn't have to worry about getting into another relationship that could result in another breakup
