Built In Trailer Brake System.

Hi,I just got the service trailer brake system message on my instrument cluster. Trailer not on truck at the moment. Service man at dealer said to bring it in,could be a short or something in wiring. It is real cold today,so don't know if that is part of problem. Truck has 18000 miles on it. There is road salt, sand on roads here now. Thanks, plowking

I had that light come on when the dealer installed my 5th wheel hitch. They apparently had to remove the module which is right under the box and install the hitch. When they re-installed the module, the light came on. You might have had something hit the module while driving, maybe a large piece of salt or ice. If the truck is still under warranty, it shouldn't cost you anything but your time.

I had that same problem last winter and it was a sensor that needed to be replaced.

Same problem here, dealer replaced a brake sensor.

I had that same problem last winter and it was a sensor that needed to be replaced.

Finaly had time to take truck to dealer. TThey called back in afternoon,said it was all set. Seems there is a TSB to install updated software to correct the problem. I'l let you know tomorrow,daughter is towing a horse trailer tomorrow. plowking

Hmm happened to me the other day. (very cold out). Will there be a problem at the dealer if I have a tune in the truck?

Don't know,the impression I got was they just diagnosed the trailer braking system. The message was a display on my instrument panel, happened twice only in cold weather. plowking

If it's a handheld tuner you used just put it back to stock and save your performance tune. If it's custom tune and your PCM is flashed it's going to gone. Contact your custom tuner and ask if they can re-tune you or ask for advice on what to do.

Well its just my friend that tuned it. (he has hptuners, tunes his 'vette and t/a)
