jro909 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 just rolled 100k on the factory tranny(its a 60) on 04 and i'm just curious if a shift kit would be worth it now or at all? or should i just begin saving for a new tranny? it shifts fine (knock on wood)
Harvey Halabookie Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I put a TransGo shift kit in my '04 4L60E. Did it myself. Was a bit tricky but well worth it. I'm a beleiver in them and a good trans cooler for longevity. If you are keeping the truck, I would definitely do it. It can't hurt.

But with 100K....you may only get a year or two more out of it anyway. 140-160K is the usual failure of a 4L60E if its been worked hard. Have seen lots go past 200K though....so its up to you.
jro909 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 the tranny is not worked hard at all, majority of the miles are highway and i think i've towed twice in the 3 years i've had it, the thing that shakes me up is the odd bump on get on occasion when it shifts certain gears
