Metal Shaving "paste" On Oil Drain Plug

I think this is an appropriate place for this. Truck is a 2000 Z71 5.3 with 71K miles.....

I changed the oil today and noticed a fine metallic "paste" mixed with oil on the magnetic tip of the drain plug. Just a very thin layer on the tip, not a big "goober" of it. It does have the usual piston slap when started in the morning but is otherwise smooth and quiet.

Is this normal? When i first bought the truck, I changed the oil but didn't really pay attention to the plug and I had to replace it at that time anyways due to a torn seal on the plug. The new plug is still very shiny and clean so it was very noticeable. Thanks for any info.

It's not a lot. Just enough to leave a very small smudge on a paper towel when I wiped it off.

My oil plug never has anything to speak of on it. But when i took out the front axle drain plug there was a HUGE glob of metal sludge on it. I think the front axle seal is leaking a bit and I four wheel it alot in super soft sand.
